It really doesn't matter. They reviewed the call and said it stood. It should have never gotten to this point, but everybody on that west sideline is to blame for letting that game get away from them.

The excuses for this team are over!!

It was a Touchdown. Even in your picture the ball is over the line. The guy was sticking the ball out

Wouldn't it be the people on the west sideline (smu side)?

It's hard to say if the camera isn't exactly on the goal line, and besides, on a play like that, the real question is when his knee hit the ground in relation to the ball crossing the plane of the goal line.

A game played at home should result in that play NOT being a touchdown. See Aggy vs. Fresno State. Texas v. Ark State.

Even in this picture, if my eyes aren't deceiving me, you can see the shadow underneath his knee. Knee isn't touching there and the ball is across the plane. Touchdown.

We should just take Bennett's suggestion and put an asterick by this loss. I'm not quite sure what he plans to do about the other 40+ I have lost count of, though.

Apparently most people have forgotten more about angles and perspective than the referees ever knew. I was sitting right in front of that Saturday. It was NOT a touchdown. His knee hit before he fully extended the ball to cross the plane. BUT at this point it's irrelevant, even if they would have downed the ball a few inches from the goal line I'm fairly confident UTEP could have run the ball that few inches.

Here's a higher quality photo.

I must say the kid on the far right is making quite an amusing face. An epitome of what we're all feeling.

the play was reviewed-all agreed that it was a touchdown. Watched the replay last nite. There certainly wasn't conclusive evidence to overturn it. I don't think it was really that tough a call to make by the replay official who didn't take long to call it. The ball was farther out at one point-then he slightly pulled his arms back in. So a single shot doesn't tell the story. All it has to do is touch the plane of the front of the white line. I'd say if the field call had been no TD the replay official would have ruled there was conclusive evidence to overturn. All 3 pictures above confirm a TD.

In order to overturn a call there must be conclusive evidence on replay that the call on the field was wrong. Even the most peruna colored glasses out there cannot say the replay was concusive as to the wrongness of the call on the field.
