At least USC, a private school, lost to Stanford, another private school. I ALWAYS root for the private schools to beat the big, state, TAXPAYER supported schools. Notre Dame is usually the exception, but given all their losses this year, I will even root for them.

One thing is for certain...Stanford's model involves not having to sell a TOP 10 academic environment. It is more attractive than SMU in every scenario one would sell to a prospective Texas recruit except maybe having one's parents able to come to games regularly. I don't know about the "talent" (girls) there, so I am not rating that.

Not saying SMU is anything to sneeze at, but comparatively, SMU can't hold Stanford's academic jock.
