NO FAITH?

Postby ALEX LIFESON » Fri Oct 12, 2007 7:37 am

Anyone notice in today's DMN prediction section, that all eight writers predicted S. Miss to not only win, but not ONE thought SMU could even beat the 9 point spread. This is a S. Miss team that was bombed by Boise, and beaten on their own turf by Rice, and down to their THIRD string qb. Not to mention, the Ponies have had two weeks to prepare for. Come on Mustangs, in the name of Doak Walker!

I agree. I know our defense is bad, but this is a pretty banged up S. Miss. team. Also, from what I've seen, nobody in CUSA is heads and shoulders ahead of anyone else. I say it's another tight game, and a toss up at that.

Tomorrow is a great day. One all Ponies' fans should be anticpating. Yes, tomorrow is the start of the Women's rowing season. At last, a team with a chance to win and the desire to win and the discipline to win.

Anybody else struck by the size of team, roughly 45? Despite having few regional competitors, this team has broad, national appeal.

It's a 50-50 thing:

Tech - we didn't cover
NTexas - we covered
Arkie State - we didn't cover
Froggy High - we didn't cover
UTEP - we covered

Time to even up the tally -- WITH A WIN!

Wasn't TCU favored by like 23 1/2? I might be wrong.

4th string QB actually I believe. They just moved him back from WR.

You are also forgetting that we let a WR at QB beat us at Rice last year when we had a FAR better D. And that was in front of maybe 10k Rice faithfull at the game? So Miss has the biggest home field advantage in all of CUSA. That plays a pretty big factor when you have a lame duck coach with 4 road wins in 6 seasons in addition to one of the worst defenses you could try to assemble.

Yep, tcu was favored by 21, so we covered unless you are using the new math.

He must be using fuzzy math, or as it is better known as Aggie math, because we didn't cover against UTEP, seeing as we were favored.

To be fair, I think many of us could have stood back there and lobbed those passes and Jarrett Dillard would have somehow come down with those, too. He is a great player who had an other-worldly performance that day. Dammit.
