Re: Al Gore
Not to be all political and all, but I think this is a poor choice. The guy made a frickin' movie and wrote a frickin' book and goes and gives frickin' speeches (speeches that are excruciatingly boring from what I have been told by someone that saw him at the Cal. ABA meeting, I might add). There are people risking their lives and freedom for causes that toil in obscurity because the news would rather cover Britney/K-Fed. Gore has Clooney, Affleck and DiCaprio sucking up to him at events in air conditioned theaters and banquet halls. Instead of hanging out with Hugo Chavez, maybe Gore can go over to Brazil and tell them to stop chopping down rainforests to grow sugarcain to make ethanol. Wait, that is too complicated. Making movies is easier than actually doing anything. Actions have consequences.
Re: Al Gore
You'll want to have your non-political gland checked. It might be infected.
Interesting finding by a British high court to Al Gore's film "An Inconvenient Truth".
The Alleged Errors Highlighted by High Court Judge Michael Burton: 1.) The sea level will rise up to 20 feet because of the melting of either West Antarctica or Greenland in the near future. (This "Armageddon scenario" would only take place over thousands of years, the judge wrote.) 2.) Some low-lying Pacific islands have been so inundated with water that their citizens have all had to evacuate to New Zealand. ("There is no evidence of any such evacuation having yet happened.") 3.) Global warming will shut down the "ocean conveyor," by which the Gulf Stream moves across the North Atlantic to Western Europe. (According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, "it is very unlikely that the Ocean Conveyor will shut down in the future…") 4.) There is a direct coincidence between the rise in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and the rise in temperature over the last 650,000 years. ("Although there is general scientific agreement that there is a connection, the two graphs do not establish what Mr. Gore asserts.") 5.) The disappearance of the snows on Mount Kilimanjaro is expressly attributable to global warming. ("However, it is common ground that, the scientific consensus is that it cannot be established that the recession of snows on Mount. Kilimanjaro is mainly attributable to human-induced climate change.") 6.) The drying up of Lake Chad is a prime example of a catastrophic result of global warming. ("It is generally accepted that the evidence remains insufficient to establish such an attribution" and may be more likely the effect of population increase, overgrazing and regional climate variability.) 7.) Hurricane Katrina and the consequent devastation in New Orleans is because of global warming. ("It is common ground that there is insufficient evidence to show that.") 8.) Polar bears are drowning because they have to swim long distances to find ice. ("The only scientific study that either side before me can find is one, which indicates that four polar bears have recently been found drowned because of a storm.") 9.) Coral reefs all over the world are bleaching because of global warming and other factors. ("Separating the impacts of stresses due to climate change from other stresses, such as overfishing and pollution, was difficult.") http://abcnews.go.com/US/TenWays/Story?id=3719791&page=2 Then this guy discusses the nine alleged errors with multiple citations. http://scienceblogs.com/deltoid/2007/10/an_error_is_not_the_same_thing.php#more
The price of corn since Bush pledged to increase use of ethanol.

you want to cite a source for this British "High Court" whatever the hell that is-or did you just copy this [deleted] from the usual sources. The wording in several of those points is extremely deceptive. For example no Island has had to be EXVACUATED. Maybe not but I've seen several detailed long stories about a particulatr island in the Pacific that shows this is just an inevitable reality-that 3/4th of the islanders have already left and the water has already swollowed up a majority of the island-believe it was on 60 Minutes. Another deceptive point-about how long it will take for the ocean to rise 20 feet. Come on-do you know how much 20 feet is. The Sea doesn't have to rise 20 feet to do catastrophic damage to low lying areas on coastal regions which include some of the most densely populated areas of the US and the World. based upon the wording of your points alone, I'm sure this conservative think tank non-sense. Or we could just trust the Bush Administration-they have such a wonderful record at predictions.
Like what -- Rivals? I eagerly await Stallion's movie about recruiting and the steps needed to improve SMU's athletic standing in the world. (Relax - it's a joke... ![]()
