Safety plan

Postby Corso » Mon Sep 29, 2003 3:48 am

Rico Harris is hurt.
Chris Godfrey is hurt.
Jamey Harper got hurt Saturday - anyone know how bad?

So does this mean Joey Sturdivant starts against UTEP? Who's going to back him up?

Maybe we can borrow Donald Mitchell from the Cowboys, since he's on IR and can't play for them. (And there's the fact that he's a CB, not a safety, but let's not get bogged down in minutae....)

I wonder if the coaches are thinking about using Corey Muse at one of the safety positions. I remember when they recruited him they talked about possibly using him as a strong safety. Anyone know??

From what I understand, Moodley and Humphrey will be back this week. Moodley will train at both corner and saftey. Also, I think Gilmore is available at saftey. Travis Hunt (I think) has played special teams and at some point was a saftey.

You mean Moodley and Harper?

I think Gilmore is available at safety, and while that undoubtedly is his position in the future, I'm not sure the coaches feel he's really ready. (Of course, if anyone else gets hurt, it might not be an option.

Hunt would be interesting, since he's got about a zillion relatives who have made the NFL - there has to be some athletic ability there. I hear they really like what he's done on special teams this year -- maybe that confidence boost can carry over to the defense?
