Are there any thoughts on the upcoming opening game for this program this season? I am new to SMU basketball but based on what I do know this is the best assembly of talent Rhonda has had in 6-7 years. You have a senior laden team with a experience Freshman class from last year and excellent new blood you are now adding. It would be nice to see what the Pony faithful think of this upcoming year. Let your voices be heard!!

This should be a good year, if we can avoid injury problems. We return everyone who played significant minutes last year, and Katie Gross will be back to provide another outside shooting threat. The freshmen from last year will be more experienced and should all be solid contributors. We should have better depth with the additional freshmen coming in also. I think if Janielle can consistently play at her top level we can certainly challenge for the conference title and she could be conference player of the year.

There's no question this team is talented. Truly Rhonda has had talented teams for a lot of years but I do think this team can get the program back to the post-season. Good coaches, talented players, competitive schedule - should be exciting.

Both Hill and Day were the tops in the state in their respective classifications. It should be real interesting to see how they step up to college ball!

Were they both first-team all-state? I know they were MVP of their (4A and 5A) championship GAMES, but were they first-team all-staters? If so, this recruiting class might be better than we thought. Then again, with all these upperclassmen back (and not just upperclassmen, but proven productive talents), how much playing time can the freshmen expect to get?

There's no question playing time will be hard to come by for some players. That's a nice problem to have if you're a coach though! The two Freshmen were All-State, All-Region, All-District performers. I believe they played on some All-Star teams too. I know the Day kid was selected to the StudentSportsBasketball.com - EA Sports Girls All-American Second Team. They've got nice credentials - no doubt about that. I'll be interested to see how they're able to handle the transition from high school to college.

If those two get any major playing time, they'll be even better than advertised. I have no doubt they're capable players, but they have some experienced talent in front of them, and might well have to wait their turn.

I'm also buying season tickets to BOTH of our teams this year.

Good call on last year's freshman class, Bigtime. I have friends who know some people on the team, and they have very high hopes for this year's sophomores, especially Jillian Samuels and Delisha Wills.
