We've seen that doesn't always work out after Cavan, Dement and Tubbs left. He has now made promises that the defense would be much better and lead us to bowl glory despite losing about 7 at least part time starters and the offensive line would be better without 3 (and 5 contributors)starters. I see both areas as potential disaster zones next year. As I asked before who will be our defensive starters and offensive line starters next year? Just would love to know who the hell is going to start at LB that is going to the lead this team to Bowl gloryMy feeling is that while it can't get much worse we are looking at a lengthy rebuilding period in both cited areas. I'm calling an alarm right now warning of big trouble spots at LB and OLM which must be addressed by JUCO recruiting or we will suffer next year. Go ahead try to piece together a starting set of LBs and an offensive line-the exercise will demonstrate glaring weaknesses.

Not sure the OL will slip dramatically as yoy have Enright, Smith, T. Poynter & Lobo coming back. All have contributed. I assume LeRibeus will step in and be an immediate upgrade but after that, you're right...which FR will be capable among Tennison, Beachum, Turner, Brooks and Lilly? Oh - shouldn't forget Nigh and shouldn't rule out the possibility Vincent Chase could be converted if he can beef up.

Couldn't agree more about the LB spot. We might need to look at whether any of those young DL guys are fast enough to play - Smart? Yenga?

As usual, we could use immediate JUCO help but we all know how unlikely that is.

I'm smelling that we need a HUGE JUCO year in recruiting.

why don't we just get rid of all of our players and start from scratch? so that way we can't just complain about our O-line or LBs.

Usually we get linebackers and then convert them to defensive line, which is why we NEVER match up on the DL with anybody else. It all starts there so that is where the IMMEDIATE help is needed. Remember we lose Muse next year and HAVE to find someone to replace him that can consistently put pressure on the QB.

well if we are talking about (former) walkons and redshirt freshman to start and many in the Top 8 OLM then you are talking about rebuilding. Seriously, we may be moving in the wrong direction. Its going to be rough at OLM and LBs next year.

Bobby Burton with Rivals.com was the one who thought SMU got the real deal with PB.

It seems easier to guage hoops recruiting success.

When it comes to recruiting against the big schools we can't compete no matter who we get I don't think. I know that my son as several of his 3 and 4 stars friends that he grew up playing with and against to come here and help change this program around, they told him it's going to take more then one or two dogg; I just can't take that chance I don't think they can win. And others said that they didn't score high enough on ACT/SAT They all went to the big schools and redshirted this year.

Nevertheless I've heard that these are some good recruiting coaches Wesley McGriff now at Miami Hurricanes and Tim Beck who is at Kansas University.

Which is a good reason to spend more time in the upper midwest recruiting than just around the DFW area. We aren't as well known up there and the negative image isn't perceived by the kids growing up. Bennett put a strait jacket on recruiting better athletes by limiting himself to this area. It would be great if a high percentage of the kids wanted to stay local, but many want to go away to school. Well I know that is also true for kids in St. Louis and Chicago, which are two fertile areas that we could recruit. It gets darn cold up there in the middle of December and coming to Dallas might be a change that they like especially after checking out the scenery on campus! 8)

Remember when gets commitments for UT for National Top 100s he is outrecruiting the entire Country for these kids not just Baylor, Tech and Rice. I'd say Giles has proven himself to be an outstanding recruiter. He's also outrecruited the rest of the UT staff-so that tells you something

Wasn't good enough for Bennett's staff.

Giles got hired away by UH I think. He Coached under Bennett. Yeah that Tim Beck guy at Kansas is supposed to be a good recruiter. I focused more on Big 12 South Coaches but heck Missouri and Kansas live down here to.
