Give Willis credit
I watched most of the 4th qtr of the SMU-USM game last night. Willis took a huge shot with about 8 minutes to go and I was impressed with how quickly he shook it off. You could tell he was hurting and didn't want to come out of the game. He did sit out 1 play but came back in and threw a nice scrambling pass to Martin for a TD a couple plays later. I know a lot of people on this board are saying that he has regressed this year, but that really showed me something about his character - particularly considering SMU was down 28-0 in the 4th quarter.

I too give JW a lot of credit. He is the face of the team and wants the team to win so badly. He is a great competitor and this must be killing him. I don't condone him throwing his helmet, but I understand his frustration. I am more than willing to look the other way at this incident than I would be for Sam Bennett's helmet throwing in the UTEP? game.
Keep it up JW, it can get better!

Uncalled for. What makes you think that Sam doesn't give as much as he can for this team? Just because he doesn't have a prominent position doesn't mean he doesn't give all he can. Sam was upset with himself, Justin was upset with his team and his coaches. BIG difference.

You can't be serious. JWill is a decent QB in our conference, but let's face it, he doesnt have a strong arm, he's not very accurate, and he is way to antsy in the pocket. I think he has a lot of room for improvement. I think he has potential and is a lot better than anybody else we have had around here, but no way he is starting at any Big 12 or SEC school.

On another thread they posted where JW is involved in almost 70% of the plays, most in the NCAA which shows his heart.
I love it when people say he is "antsy" in the pocket, wouldn't you be if you were blitzed constantly because your team is playing from behind or has never established a running game? Not to mention the "genius" offensive coordinator doesn't put the blocking RB on the blind side like every other team does? If I was Willis after that hit at Southern Miss when Martin was assigned to block the strong side, I would have went to the sidelines and slapped Burns! BTW, Willis did sustain a minor concusion on that play.
Willis has a better arm than people give him credit, he has underthrown a few long balls but it's more because he waited to long to throw than distance.
I'll still argue he is just as good or better than Chase Daniel, I have followed both of their careers and they were mirror images of each other in high school, and Chase has one more year of NCAA experience since he didn't get redshirted, next year will tell.
