I'm not going to sit here and say we'll shut down Matt Forté with 2 yards all day, but we will win.
1. Tulane's pass defense gives up 252.8 yards per game, and most of the teams they have faced are running teams. Justin Willis tops 300 yards today.
2. Their defensive line seems to be pretty good (starting four have 14 of their 19 sacks this year), but behind that .... bleah. Evan Lee (MLB) must be good if he has 56 tackles, but their secondary - outside of SS Goosby - seems average, at best. Zero interceptions today for Willis (barring a deflection), and DeMyron Martin gets past the front four enough to top 100 yards again.
3. Bob Toledo is a good coach, but with this team learning his systems for the first time, he's not going to be too creative with trick plays and gimmicks. Forté left, Forté right, Forté up the middle. He'll get some yards, of course, but SMU tackling gets better today and he doesn't run wild.
SMU WINS!

i was like you too SMUFan before we played texas tech. we will lose this game outright. tulane wants it more and has played a much more tougher slate than we have, it might be close but in the end we wont be able to stop the run and turnovers will plague us...lose by a fg

Nope, just letting the sunshine in. And I liked the puffy-cheeked sun (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Wins and losses are no longer the issue this year. They have become irrelevant. The issue is finding a new coach.

Oh, it would be nice if they won this game. But I'm more concerned about the future of the program and who will lead it so the wins will become more relevant again.
My guess is if we don't win this, Rice is the last chance. Memphis no because we're on the road. So this is either 1-11 2-10 or 3-9 -- at best.

Well, lets root for a victory until we get kicked in the nuts with a loss

I agree. Probably 2-10. 3-9 is unfortunately optimistic in my view - one of the 3 wins I thought we would have was Tulane but that's no more so I'm thinking beat Rice and be content with a 2-10. But we'll see...hopefully I'll be proven wrong.

I need to change my preseason prediction. My pessimistic (realistic?) versionof a record prediction was 3-9. I'm thinking more like 1-11, or 2-10, at this point.

Someone's been watching SMU on ESPN Classic and getting the 82 team confused with the 07 team.

For the record, Willis DID go over 300, and we DID see Forté left, Forté right, Forté up the middle. SMUFan got some of it right.
He also was right when he said SMU will win today  he was just a day early. Thankfully, the men's soccer team is playing today at 1 PM. If I'm not mistaken, we're No. 6 in the country, and on something of a roll. It's going to do my soul some good to watch SMU whip someone. Join me!

forgive me for feeling negative this morning, but isnt the soccer team ranked high every year and usually falls short of expectations?
