2-point conversion
Wouldn't it have made sense to go for the 2-point conversion with 8 seconds left in the game?
We couldn't stop their offense - why not go for it with Willis doing such a great job?

I agree especially given the lousy play of our defense in the final quarter of each of the games that we have played this year. Going for two was his best chance for a win.
I agree too. I didn't see the game but from what I've read we couldn;t stop them all game. Give them 25 yards? Might as well hand 'em a TD (sounds like we did) in OT. PB and Co. had nothing to lose and by doing that it would have shown agressivenes and caught the other team off guard! Not to mention it would have been exciting!

Hell,
We line up in that idiotic swinging gate every XP and never do anything with it....surely there are some plays we have for it, surely we don't just do it to waste time and allow TDs to be taken away by replay (which is the only thing we actually have used it for) ....should have tried it there.....takes a coach with guts though, which PB does not have.....In his six years, I think we ran the fewest fakes in college football. I almost fell out of my seat when he did the fake punt.....but I guess he didnt enjoy it working too much since we never tried anything again.....
I remember the famous Vince Lombardy quote when they beat the Cowboys in the Ice Bowl....the Packers could have kicked a field goal to tie the game and send it to overtime.....but they went for the win....when they asked Vince about it he said something to the effect "If we can't make one yard, we don't deserve to win".......

This would have been the only logical play. Before the game, had we been told we could run one play from the 2 yard line for the win...we take that EVERY time when we are 1-5. This is just another poor decision from the sideline and watching our first play in OT blow up was just painful.
Additionally, we could have run a 2pt attempt earlier after Tulane took a penalty and moved our extra point try to the 1yd line. Plenty of time left at that point so it was certainly something to think about, although a less obvious decision than at the end of the game.
The state of this program is just plain sad

Go see some East Texas AAA high school ball - you'll see it all the time.

Obviously, conventional wisdom is that you take the sure thing and try to win in OT. This is one of those times, when a coach with the job on the line, probably took the conventional route so that he couldn't be criticized for going for it and then us not making it. Three years ago, Bennett probably would have gone for it. Our offense at that point was not the problem. Unfortunately, Willis just tried too hard to make a play and got pancaked. But, we have not had a lot of luck on 2 point conversions all year. Of course, after two OT's we would have had to try one after Forte ran two yards for another conversion.
