ConcessionsCan we tar and feather who ever is in charge of that debacle? It seemed like most of the stations were closed? Can we do anything first class?
Re: Concessions
I agree. The waiting time was OUTRAGEOUS! I guess they were anticipating less than 5,000 fans for the game. That probably would be the attendance for the next game except that it is Homecoming.
I have a novel idea. Why don't you guys walk a few sections north or south and visit those kind folks who have little to no line at all?
I walked all the way down to the North end zone and found long lines there also. Nice try!
Then how long is long? 3 deep? Because there is NO ONE on the east side.
Good for you! They obviously were over-served on that side. I recommend that they close down all concessions on the east side and use those concession stand workers so that the lines can be reduced for the Mustang Club members on the West side that actually pay money to get into the game!
Better yet, let us go to our Bishop tailgates and eat and drink there during halftime.
Wasted 25 minutes in line visiting one of the 2 open concession stands on the West Side. Then they were out of Diet Coke. The lines were easily 10 people deep at every station and I walked to the north end zone as well and finally said "F#ck it! SMU ain't gonna get any of more of my money tonight." Just one of the many great moments at the game tonight. Oh yeah, can we not mic the band. We can hear them just fine but the echo is ridiculous. Also, whoever is in charge of the in game music is a total idiot. Can you play something even remotely relevant? Also, PA guy, do something to fire up the crowd sometimes. I know getting the players names correct is tough and all, but please do something, anything, or just give up and resign with Phil. Also, if I am Pluckers I want my money back for the Wing Race. Can't somebody actually make the race call? That is what made the Dot Races at least interesting at Arlington Stadium back in the day.
Class of '91
Last spring, I had a conversation with Richard Sweet about marketing. One comment he made that was most impressive was his assertion that marketing SMU athletics needed to be more than billboards and TV commericals -- that it was about the fan experience, the game atmosphere, giving attendees the kind of experience that would make them want to come back. One thing he specifically talked about was improved concessions.
Long story short, interesting to note that whatever lessons Sweet was trying to teach have evidently fallen on deaf ears. My wife and I drove in from Oklahoma to make the game. We hadn't eaten anything since a muffin for breakfast. We walked halfway around the stadium to find an open concession stand, then ended up standing in line. We finally bailed out in order to get back to our seats in time for the second half. If anybody's out there listening, that's not the way to people to come back.
I heard that a lot of the FCA kids (thanks for coming!) were hanging around the concessions lines all night.
I wouldn't mind the long lines if we were winning.

I for one would like to see a Peruna vs. Oscar race
That's because they were famished after walking from The Radisson Hotel where their busses let them out. Those kids had to walk from there to Ford Stadium. I'm pretty sure that's what mrydel told me on The Blvd.
concessions deserve an "F" for the Tulane game
almost all the stands were closed from the look of it you would think a high school game was going on extremely long lines at the few stands that were open someone says "aw why dont you walk down aways?" well why dont they have concessions open where the customers are? instead of saying the customer should adapt. it was ridiculous, but really not a surprise oh and by the way, when you are only going to have a few concessions open and know your going to have long lines would it not make just a bit of sense to have the Ben & Jerry ice cream stands maybe a few feet away from the long line chaos and people try to squeeze by the long lines? C-ya @ Milos!
