As we continue this ascent of shame, a few more familiar events happened last night. Phil Bennett was once again, beaten by a 1st year head coach. CUSA and opposition school records were set against SMU, which is a weekly occurrence. I am so sick of every season facing a team that hasn't won a road game since Moby [deleted] was a minnow, and we provide the relief. The last time Tulane won a CUSA road game was in 2005 against......SMU. We were a 6 point favorite last night, the Vegas folks have to be scratching their heads and wondering, who CAN these guy's beat? I was talking to Stallion at the half last night, and the wasting of redshirts is driving us both nuts. Patrick Fleming and Darrius Bell for example, blew a year to play on the kickoff teams? A record NINE games on tv this year, and we may go 0-9. It is embarrassing for Fox Sports to show that eastside of the stadium. I have to stop for a moment, or I will throw up.

So as a parent of Derrius Bell you feel my pain. I just don't understand the logic here. I am all for redshirting getting bigger and stronger that's been what I have preach to both my boys but if you don't redshirt him then play him. Derrius chose this school on that intent, although I told him not to choose a school for that reason.

For the life of me I don't know why we can't stop the run or the pass. The spread weakens defense if you practice nothing but against the spread you want be prepare for the run. Sometimes you have to change up and go to the power eye and ram the ball down your opponents throat. Then go back to the spread there are other ways to play football. The pro-set is the best way of doing so.
Be it my son are any other kid don't take his redshirt for kickoff you have other kids that can play on special teams.

Couple of points: Mr. Bell...I completely agree with you as well.
And as for Toledo being a first year head coach, he may be for Tulane, but he is not new to this. UCLA was his first gig, I believe. He was average to below average, I believe. He was a defensive coordinator for A&M before UCLA, I think.
I don't think he outcoached Bennett this game...his strategy reminded me of a tennis player who just lobs back balls and waits for the other player to boo-boo. That's not outcoaching...but it's effective (clearly).

Please, you are being too kind - its not just the east side of the stadium - Saturday night, both sides looked pathetic. ESPN says there were 14,901 people at the game. There is NO WAY that is accurate. Ford holds 32k, and there is no way it was almost half full. Our section and numerous others had like 5 people in them. What a joke.

Toledo had a 20 win game streak at UCLA and was offered the Oklahoma job and the Cleveland Browns job. He had a lot of off field issues and a 6 game losing streak with a new AD that cost him his job. Guy won some big games

My wife was trying to spot me on TV. She said she knew I was alone and on the 50 so she tried to figure out which of the many people sitting alone on the 50 was me. There was a lot of open space between spectators. Of course, had Jtstang made it she could have looked for 2 people together and had a better chance of spotting me.

You need to spend more time with your wife so she doesn't have to spend time trying to see you on TV...or was she just checking up on your alibi? :wink:

Could not lie about being at this game. I was afraid I would be the only one there. Not spending too much time together is our recipe for a long marriage.

Roy, Orsini made a great hire for the basketball team. I have confidence that he'll pick a great coach and find the money to pay him. A lot of PB's move don't make sense but I'm guessing in about a month we'll have a coach we're all happy with. I like PB as a person, just not a good head coach.
