The greatest violation the Tubbs committed was that he was clueless how to run a Division I basketball program. That was good enough for me.
That's the greatest? You are an idiot. An ignorant one.

So who is responsible for how they block and tackle? They have had the same problems since the first game. Here we are 7 games into the season with the same problems. You would think that they learned that stuff in high school, but hey...if they haven't, someone should be teaching them those fundamentals...don't you think?
PK..Don't argue with helicopter parents (relatives)...They go by the rule, "My mind is made up--don't confuse me with facts."
Haven't you been listening (reading). This is an institutional issue, far beyond PB. A different HC will only push us back another 5 years? You may not live that long. I am not a parent or relative of any player. I happen to live in the Dallas area now and I have been a fan of SMU football since the 70's. And we do have lots of player who could tackle in HS, just like you.

If we keep bringing in long shot coaches and play football under the SMU model we will be screwed for another 5 years. If, however, we decide that it is time for SMU to Pony Up $ and play with the big boys and play by the same rules that the University of Texas or even TCU play by then we will bring in a coach that is of such high caliber that we will immediately improve our recruiting and will get more out of the existing players. They have quit on Phil and I am of the opinion that Phil is just going through the motions as is most of the staff.
Head Coaches salary of $1.5 million makes you Top 25 in D1 coaches salary and the highest paid man at a non-BCS school. It is also a better gig with a better chance of winning consistently than a large # of 2nd tier BCS schools. Do you really want the job at Baylor, Vandy, Duke, Northwestern, Indiana, Mississippi, Mississippi State, anywhere in Iowa, or a slew of schools that have been cannon fodder to the other schools in the BCS conferences?

Hey you go see if a bunch of ATOs could tackle a 6-2, 225 pounder running a 4.5.. See Thomas at UTEP and Forte at Tulane. Aldridge will do the same thing(just as he did last year) no matter how long Phil spends on tackling dummies in the next few weeks. But I disagree with BigDaddyDonGarlits(wasn't he the big drag racer in the 1980s) because Phil actually recruited these overmatched kids and when it gets right down to it he is responsible. I will no longer deflect blame from a head coach who can't beat other cupcakes in a conference rated below a 1-AA conference(Southern Conference).
Stallion, I will say again that the institution recruits the players not the coaches. We can only recruit the players that can get in. JWill for example got in with a 3.8 GPA and 900 on SAT. If it was not for the 3.8 he would not have been accepted. That narrows the recruiting down even more for SMU. We have students playing football. When you watch the good teams play on TV and they announce what they are majoring in, SMU does not even offer those classes. C'mon people, let's keep it real for what it is? I just don't like blaming someone for something that is inevitable. Hell Darth, you can get into UH and Tulsa. Forte was coming to SMU at first, but what do you think changed his mind. By the way Forte is JWills 3rd cousin on JWills mothers side.

Said the guy who wants to keep Bennett. On one hand, he's right, we need to change some things. But on the other hand, he's wrong: PB is one of those things. -CoS
Yea, this is a tough situation? Do we keep changing or keep PB. Good point Pink Cadillac!

Are you saying that Forte could not get accepted academically into SMU so he went to Tulane? Next thing you'll be telling me that Harvard can take grade risks that SMU can't.

Oh, and the real definition of insanity is your remark about XTC.
Because we keep discussing the same things over and over and nobody wants to discuss the real issues over that last 20 years, and it is not PB. The issues are far bigger than PB. Keeping it real!

Who has quit? The offense is # 30 something in the nation? The institution quit on SMU football 20 years ago, but don't say these kids, who are busting their butts to the best of THEIR ABILITY have quit. The quitters (Reggie Carrington) are gone. The players are here, just not that good. I bet you are an average employee, but will they fire you or your boss if things don't improve?

I am telling you that what he wanted to major in, we did not offer, along with his GPA in HS and his SAT scores. It's Tulane where he is playing now. Tulane does not even hit the radar compared to SMU acedemics?

From what the family told us, who live in Denton, Tx, SMU did not offer what he wanted to major in. As well as his test scores not being high enough to get in. And GPA in HS being 2.8 or so. This is what I was told, other than the fact he wanted to stay closer to home.

Tulane is a much better school than SMU. So, please tell me that Forte was admitted by SMU and he simply chose not to come because we didnt have his major. which is absurd in itself.

Maybe I am missing something, but other than the Ivey league schools, SMU is the toughest to get into?

Now I don't know what his GPA and SAT scores were, but the rest of your story is a bunch of BS. Matt Forte, the guy who ran all over us, is majoring in Finance. SMU has a really nice Finance program in Cox. I'm fairly certain that anyone that gets in Tulane can get into the SMU.
