I was disappointed to see the large 'the boulevard sponsored by Hummer' sign that almost dwarfed the brick 'Southern Methodist University' at the entrance to the campus on Saturday. It was bad enough when the Alumni Relations tent was erected where it is and completely blocks out the view of Dallas Hall from south of Binkley. On Saturday, a visitor couldn't even see any tents or other indication of what the boulevard is because of the Hummer sign.

that's pretty big time. Was it sponsored by Hummer (i.e. GM) or sponsored by Sewell (i.e. an SMU alum)?

That's a good question. There were two Hummers on the sidewalk outside of the freshman quad and a Saab tent set up outside of Perkins Natatorium. I guess it could have been Sewell, since they sell both.

Only two Hummers outside the Freshman quad? That's a slow Saturday night.

If they give us money to put them there, and don't interfere with tailgating/drinking space, I'm all for it.

I agree, too. Great idea
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

There are few who continue to support the program like Carl Sewell. Assuming these were Sewell automobiles, I have no problem with it whatsoever.

It's kind of interesting, only because I can remember the original boulevard rules that prohibited any kind of commercial advertising on tents. The original intent was to keep the boulevard clear of that sort of thing. Oh well, it's a new day.

Better take what money you can before all interest in football dries up.

Personally, I thought it was kind of cool. I was able to get a free SMU blanket. Probably the best part of my Saturday as sad as that is.

I assume that rule meant that those renting tents couldn't put up commercial advertising .... with the understanding that if ANYONE was going to make money off the Boulevard, the University would, so SMU would be the only entity with the right to advertise.

Do you mean everyone's drinking space, or just your own peronal 4X4 square, Couch?
