Dear Mr. StallionDear Mr. Stallion,
While I am not worthy to address you directly, I hope a letter will still allow my feeble words be heard by such a great thinker. I have but one question for you: While it is a foregone conclusion that PB will be fired before the beginning of next season and the changes you have suggested will undoubtedly not yet be instituted before next season, what is a reasonable expectation for our record next year, and if that said reasonable expectation is surpassed by a new coach, would you then agree that coaching CAN make a difference? Thank you dear sir for listening and I am ever anxious to receive a response.
Re: Dear Mr. StallionAs an SMU fan, you should know by now to have no expectations. I have finally learned this.
Another one (or more):
If Tulsa has lower standards on admissions/JUCOs, how do you explain the fact that SMU holds a lead over Tulsa (W-L Record) over the last 7 years? If we have absolutely no chance at competing within C-USA due to the model, how did we win 6 games last year? Do you fault Bennett for recruiting these sub-par athletes (as you claim)? Based on your theory, SMU has absolutely no chance even with a new head coach. Do you espouse this theory simply because you like being negative? Oh, and once again, where is the evidence that we don't allow players in that can get into Tulsa or TCU? STILL WAITING (after several weeks). Geaux MUSTANGS! Geaux Tigers!
why don't you complain about LSU which will gladly admit all kinds of kids who fail to even qualify. You are one big hypocrite to come on here and talk about how great LSU is but then complain about SMU Coaching staff that is not given the same opportunities. I will tell you that Tulsa has been to what 5-6 bowls games and too many NCAAs tournament to count since The DP-so stick those numbers down your hypocritical [deleted].
I can no longer expend energy to respond to My Little Pony. He has managed to lose almost all credibility he had in one day, call everyone who disagrees with him names, and continues to throw a tantrum just so everyone will think he is right.
He usually does his research and backs it up, but today he has become a joke, putting words into people's mouths, calling everyone names, and cursing uncontrollably while trying, desperately, to save face.
Stallion I would like a prediction for our Team next year under the direction of a NEW QUALIFIED DIVISION 1 HEAD COACH with the same inadequate(in your opinion) athletes? I need some proof to hold over your head next year when our new coach is being mentioned as a COACH OF THE YEAR Candidate. PLEASE GRACE US WITH A PREDICTION. NOTE: I don't expect any major MODEL changes, so don't consider MAJOR MODEL changes when making your prediction. ![]()
Since I will be unable to attend anymore SMU football games for the remainder of this season, I hereby grant official gameday tantrum rights to Stallion in my absence. ![]()
I know he has absolutely no clue but there are some lost sheep on this board who actually believe his Bull. I want to shut him up for good and his failed prediction will be my proof to rid this board of his ridiculous MODEL theory.
BR, we won 6 games last year by beating some pretty marginal Sam Houston State/Ark State/Tulane/Marshall/UAB teams at home. I think as long as C-USA is the lowest ranked D1-A conference, even below D1-AA Southern (this is especially true of the Western Division), then yes...we will always have a chance to compete. Aren't your expectations a little higher???
Show me where I've ever talked about how great LSU is on this board. I'm an LSU fan, but I'm a Mustang fan at the core. This board deals with SMU football, and that's typically all I discuss on here. Once again, you fail to answer the question at hand, but divert attention to off-topic, irrelevant issues. You answer some other question. If we were in a depo, I'd object as nonresponsive. Tell me why SMU has a better W-L over Tulsa the last 7 years, and answer the other questions. If SMU had called a play action pass and JW put it in the end zone, what would you say about the quality of our players? Would you call them "Lucky" or would you dog Tulsa's players as not being up for the game? Geaux MUSTANGS! Geaux Tigers!
Look, I don't take issue with the opinion that our athletes are not the best we could get as a C-USA team. I agree, we need better athletes. But, as a lawyer, I am trained to look at evidence. Other than the JUCO/transfer issue concerning non-p.e.-type majors, I have seen no definitive evidence to show that SMU keeps players out that can get into Tulsa or TCU. I refuse to believe that SMU is doomed forever at football because of academic restrictions without more evidence. Until someone can show me, I will have HOPE that a better recruiter might get better talent and also that that better recruiter may also know how to teach and coach on gameday. Geaux MUSTANGS! Geaux Tigers!
How do you like our chances this year???? The marginal Tulane and Arkansas State teams Kicked our @sses this year. You don't normally go from where SMU has been to competing with USC for the national championship every year, so yes actually winning C-USA would be a pretty nice accomplishment for SMU. We all have higher expectations but TCU for example didn't become a top 25 team overnight. They consistently won "C-USA" for a few years, started to beat some Big 12 teams and it becomes a little easier to get some of the athletes that Tech or OSU wanted. Also, a lot of you guys act as if all of the great athletes are dumb nonqualifiers. That's simply not true. Some of the better athletes aren't coming to SMU because they chose to go el$ewhere and not because they wouldn't qualify academically.
I agree! Also, Stallion all great athletes are not dumb non-qualifiers(not saying that non qualifiers are dumb). Some of the athletes chose to go somewhere other than SMU for other rea$ons and not because they didn't qualify academically.
BR,
SMU has a better W-L record than Tulsa over the past 7 years because... a) in 2001 and 2002 Tulsa stunk and had a combined record of 2-21 b) last year SMU defeated a 8-5 Tulsa team. It was one of only 9 games SMU has won over the past 20 years against a team with a winning record. Think blind squirrel.
