I suppose the third would be to not fire PB at all, but Orsini can either fire him Monday or otherwise I assume he will just wait until the end of the season. Waiting another week is pointless.
Based on that, I assume if we don't hear something today or tomorrow, it could be an unsettling next few weeks.

he just needs to pull the trigger. If you read the quotes in the paper today, everybody knows its over. Bennett knows and will handle it with class. There is no benefit to waiting. Its over and its nothing but a charade if the announcement is not made tomorrow.
Transitions are hard and painful, and the sooner the break is made the better for everybody involved.

Orsini might have grown close to Bennett over the past year, which would make any decision to release him much tougher than otherwise. That could be a primary reason for any delay. Such delay, however, would be costly for this year as well as next year's recruiting class so the sooner an announcement one way or another is made the better.

honestly, if we fire him now, are we going to win out? probably not. firing him tomorrow or at the end of november won't make a difference on the season. it's shot. might as well let him ride it out.

The team the meets and has a light workout every Sunday afternoon, I expect it will come today. With no Cowboy game today, we would get more coverage tonight and Monday.

I would think the decision will be made based on who Orsini wants or at least has in mind. Correct me if I am wrong but in order to talk with a coach under contract, we need to obtain permission from the AD of his school. Unless the AD is planning on getting rid of that particular coach, they are not going to give permission during the season, and maybe not even after the season. So if Orsini wants to act now, it will have to be TerryBowden or one of the others that are currently unemployed or announcing. If Orsini wants to roll the dice on a "name" coach or an up and comer like Gill, he will have to wait until season end. If waiting, I would sit down with Bennett and advise him that his contract will be terminated at the end of the season, announce it, and start manipulating as best possible.
Another scenario is that Bennett may already have talked with Leech or someone else, and he may resign, offering to stay until the end of the season, leaving that option up to Orsini.
I do think something will happen this week to let us know what direction this whole cluster ---- is going.

A good athletic director never lets his emotions get in the way of running a department.
This coaching staff knew it had to make a bowl in order to remain employed. That hasn't happened. They will be given notice.

mrydel is generally right-no school is going to give SMU permission to talk to a Coach during the season. So SMU could look at Coaches without a job including Bowden,Glen Mason and wasn't there another unemployed Coach that has taken his team to many bowls?

Glen Mason would be an incredible hire. Is he interested in coaching again? Larry Coker? He is a name that has not surfaced much.
