The next coach at SMU will be Turner Gill. In fact, I'll almost guarantee it.

He's a native of Fort Worth. Has coached at SMU before. Has quickly started to turn around a putrid Buffalo team. And would be a huge draw for HS kids and coaches in the area. And I'm sure he'd like to get the hell out of Buffalo.

I don't think he has a realistic shot at the Nebraska job. He will probably get an interview but Osborne knows he's not ready for that yet.

I could see Osborne hiring someone at Nebraska as a 'placeholder' until he sees what Gil does at a bigger school. If we wind up with Gil, and we have any success whatsoever, expect Gil to be in Lincoln before his contract here finishes out.

Gill would be good hire. I like that he has been here before and would have his eyes wide open to the challenge. Not sure Doherty did.

we blew it by not hiring Gill last time in my opinion. I wanted him then. Just listening to what Tom Osborne says about him is impressive.
