Phil tried to do things the right way, and I applaud him for that, I think his downfall was not surrounding himself with good assistants who knew how to take advantage of the skills his players had.
I know the guys will be down because all they have ever known is Bennett and it will be a tough last month of the season for them. I hope they all stay, . . . know they all won't, but whoever Orsini hires had better come ready to freakin' coach and recruit his butt off, otherwise we will right back here in 2012 . . . "I appreciate Coah (fill in the blanks) efforts, he has represented SMU and this program with class, blah, blah blah, I just feel it is time to take a new direction in the program, blah, blah, blah . . . " it is tough to see the similarity in the "fire speaches" from Copeland and Orsini. That being said, Good Luck Phil and Go Stangs! Sports, and all that implies.
SMU played TTech post DP until 1995 when both teams were in the SWC and yes...they did have to forfeit games... http://www.ncaa.org/releases/infractions/1998/1998080401in.htm
no they didn't......TTU proposed some penalties that were not accepted by the NCAA.......
