WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE GUYS WE'VE BEEN RECRUITING

Postby RoyBell » Mon Oct 29, 2007 11:55 am

I talked to two young men that was very interested in staying close to home and were being recruited by SMU on last night. And they both said what will happen to Thumpkins he was my recruiter. They were waying there options though the losing was getting to them. Both boys attend Roosevelt High School. Vincent McNeil Jr and Quintell Solomon both true athlete that can play the game and they lead in scoring on receiving and passing. Vincent is being heavily recruited and would like to play with his old basketball and football teammate again who already attends SMU to bring back the old winning tradition. All three attending WH and were split up after the closing but they were the class everyone was looking forward to seeing. They have won all kinds of championships since they were on the 8 and under at The boys and Girls club everyone knew these guys were special and that if they stayed together any Program would go places. Who can we get to keep them interested in coming to SMU they're both 6'3 and Quintell maybe 6'4 by now. They both can both football and basketball. They're both schedule for visit to the big 12 in December.

Bye the way we need to get that BCS transfer rule overturned. I have a 4 star corner coming out of high school that would love to attend here but he said that SMU told him straight up that he couldn't come here. He has 3 years eligiblity and is still big and strong and can play the game of football his name is Walter Hudson class of 2004 look him up. He went to K-STATE but something went on and he left after one semester he went to Trinity Valley and is looking for a school right now to attend.

These boys can play and grew up with what it takes heart and alot of it.

I hope for our sake we name a new coach that will bring a "name recognition" value that will keep these kids interested.

By all means, tell McNiel and Solomon (and your four-star CB) to sit tight and see who the new coach is. My guess is that the new coach will get similar assurances about the recruiting process that Coach Doherty got (like going after prep school guys, etc. Steve-O will bring in a coach who knows how to win, and will make sure that coach has the assurances needed to get the job done - then it's up to that coach to get the players in and actually do it. Who's handling recruiting in the interim? Steve Stigall is the head of on-campus recruiting, whatever that means. Tell them to contact him in the meantime: 214-768-4879 or [email protected]. If he's not doing any recruiting, I'd think he'll have an answer about it.

Mr. Bell, being someone who coached at "The Hutch" that crazy year and know the 3 boys in mention, I hope beyond hope SMU could get them. I was ecstatic when Derrius chose SMU (a quality young man) and would do flips if PJ, Q-tip, and Walter would make their way here as well. Whoever the new coach is I'm sure will focus on the immediate area and hopefully these kids will like their new recruiter.

By the way, try and get Derrius' older brother to come here as well.....it would be nice to see those boys from Hutch succeed!!!

I Still believe.....

I think tht the boys should continue to look at SMU...It really is a great program inspite of the situations at hand. New coaches will be great for the whole team...gives them a fresh start and the redshirts will feel better about the choice they made to go too SMU...Tell the boys to hang in there the best is yet to come.

Guys...be careful. You may be skating on thin ice re: NCAA recruiting restictions. I would suggest you direct your questions regarding any kids you know that are interested in SMU to the AD or someone in the AD's office rather than on a fan message board.

I agree all questions should be directed to the AD.....NCAA is really [deleted] SMU...let's not cause trouble for these young men.

The Coaches are gone at season end. New coaches will come on board who will be even better we hope. Usually the new head coach honors committments, but questions should be directed to the AD's office.

thank you I don't want to get anyone into trouble but don't want to lose them either.

Me: Dustin is doing great in California too he is tied for one of the top corners in Bakersfield at Bakersfield College where he attends. He is constantly making big plays and SMU was after him and in fact said they were going to offer but he hadn't heard from them lately. He has visited Toledo and is scheduled to visit K state later on. He also have been offered by Tulsa now. Here's a few articles.

Two minutes before halftime, Dustin Bell took the ball on an end around, pulled up before the line of scrimmage and passed to a wide open Brandon Banks in the end zone for a 25-yard TD that helped BC to a 21-3 halftime lead.

'Gades heavy favorite today

It could be, the way the defense has come up the last two weeks while the offense has sputtered a bit -- at least compared to previous weeks -- the Renegades may never give the Oilers the chance to line up for a PAT. Led by Johnson, cornerback Dustin Bell, leading tackler Devin Pruett and a seemingly endless progression of quality defensive linemen, defensive ends and outside linebackers, the Renegades have yielded only 19 points and 382 total yards the last two games -- 24-7 and 28-12 victories over Citrus and Santa Barbara, respectively.

BC quarterback Jacob Bower threw only eight passes in roughly three quarters and completed six for 127 yards, 60 of them to Dustin Bell on a deep-ball touchdown hookup to give the Renegades a 7-0 lead.

BC’s Dustin Bell gallops toward the end zone for a touchdown against East L.A. last week.

When cornerback Dustin Bell lines up for Bakersfield College, he is always opposite the opponent's best receiver.
It is a task the former high school quarterback and collegiate receiver struggled to grasp last season. Now, however, the challenge excites the sophomore, evidenced by the two interceptions -- one for a touchdown -- against East L.A. last week.

"I have fun doing it," Bell said. "For them to have that much confidence in me, they must think I'm pretty good."

He has been on there televisions & newspapers and also has been written on several times on jcgridiron.com

He would love to go to school with his brother again I think.
