Mr. Perfect?

Post by Insane_Pony_Posse »

Looks like we are right where I predicted:

Upcoming young guy coach:
The roar is...."hell he has never been a head coach!"

Retread Coach:
The roar is.... "hell he got fired from..........!"

Baggage Coach:
The roar will be.... "do we really want someone that........!"

Where-o-where do we find "Mr. Perfect"?
A great coach that is interested in SMU
affordable
has no baggage
has been a successful head coach.....
has not been fired......
and isn't ready for the nursing home.

It seems as though every name that is thrown
out is a feeding fenzy of negativity.

I think SMU has a lot to offer, but every name
brought up somebody complains.

Are we being realistic?

We just better cross our fingers someone with a "name" will give us two looks. You never know, we could get stuck with a Bennett-esque hire. (Especially if we keep bashing potential candidates.)

I am all for a baggage man. As someone posted the other day, even if someone came that had some shady reputation in the eyes of the NCAA, what are they going to do to us, give us the death penalty again? Get the best proven candidate for the job. He can bring his own strippers, betting sheets, or geritol. Just get him in and give him the tools needed to compete with the rest of our competition.

There is no Mr. Perfect, can't please all the angry alum's all the time, no matter who we hire, someone will complain (especially on this board) and when the 1st loss comes, they will say, told you so and run home to mama.
Sports, and all that implies.

We could get a Division 1-AA nobody like Rice. I see at least 8-10 candidates who we would be damn lucky to have consider this job.

And they'd be damn lucky to have SMU consider them.
Plagiarize!

He's not a nobody. He coached for Div-1aa National Championship (or was it the semi's).

However, his ridiculous decision to take a knee with >1:00 to go from his own 30 and 'win in overtime' in THAT game is what would have made me stay away...
