Cheerleaders

When games really get bad, the cheer leaders can be a soothing tonic to the eyes of a dirty old man.Unfortunately our section of the stands were subjected to an entire half of 7-8 year old junior cheer leaders with their enthusiastic parents blocking the playing field. Not once did we see the senior cheer leaders in our area. That was truly a shame since some of the teams strongest supporters(team parents) weren't making as much noise as usual.We try to keep it going regardless of the game status but the lack of the cheer leaders did have its effect.

Good point, fbdad, I saw them, too. Those little kids were cute, I guess, but you got to rotate the real cheerleaders around to all parts of the stadium.

Hey, I was tring to be serious, with some difficulty, I admit. It's easier to rotate 10-12 cheerleaders than to move 200 team parents around the stadium. I'm getting to old for that s***. Give us golf carts and we'll do it....

Would the UTEP poms be more entertaining? Our section found them the most 'stimulating' thing of the short evening.

I sure hope your talking about the girls and not the single male member. He was entertaining in a different sort of way.

The reason the cheerleader rotation was different is the new Mustang Band practice of leaving as a group for the entire second quarter to change uniforms. They used to do it individually, but for some reason the powers that be decided that they need to hold hands like kindergarteners and all go together. This leaves the student section without a cheering force for the second quarter, so the cheerleader rotation was changed so that they are in front of the students during the second quarter. I don't know if it was athletics or the band directors who changed what the band is doing (and indirectly the cheerleaders), but it's not the band members' fault so don't blame them please.

Stealth..nobody knocks the band. You guys and girls do a great job every game. I've never been into college bands on game day until I first heard your band. Keep up the great work and try not to hold hands. It's not good for our image....

Band always terrific. But, could we eliminate the chubby (gut hanging out) cheerleaders, or whoever the spares are that don't have a male counterpart? ... or at least devise a uniform that will cover up the rolls of fat? I thought our "model" for spirit squads was UCLA.

It's hard for the cheerleaders to model anything when their coach quits every year and they have to find a new one. Hopefully they will finally get someone that will stick around.

How big is the squad this year? It looks a lot *larger* than in past years. ahem. yeah you know what i mean :confused:
