I will be honest with you. Smu will have to take what they can get, because coming up with 1.5 mil is going to be tough, and for any coach in his right mind to come here for anythings less is pulling a rabbit out of your hat. If we come up with the 1.5, bring in Orsinis buddy Bob DAVIE, who has head coaching experience. Everybody else will not leave where they are at for such a chance. It is a coaching graveyard? All money is not good money! Bowden, can't coach, Fran is an idiot that screwed up the perfect situation, Gill, next coach a Nebraska, Applewhite, next coach at Texas? Why come here? All these coaches wait their turn and be at a BCS school. We will get some no name and Orsini will ham it up just like they did with all the rest. Doh was a still, because he can't coach. THOSE WHO CAN DO AND THOSE WHO CAN'T TEACH! He could not win with players! What is he to do with Bamba Falls? Good God!

Wasn't Boston College looking to hire Davie last year? Why did BC take Jagodzinski over Davie (other than Jag was a former BC assistant coach)?

Probably because Davie actually sucks. Could not win at a program with players, jsut like Weiss.

bigdaddy...I was thinking that you mentioned sometime awhile ago that you were related to JWill...if that is true, say, perhaps you are his father, then you are indeed partially responsible for keeping things going the last three years. Don't know about the other parts though...the brother at Austin College or how you have followed the program a long time. I can tell by your reference to the "Board of Regents" that you are not close enough to the program to have their name proper, nor did you refer to the Board of Governors, which would have put you in proper context vis-a-vis previous generations. So I admit to being a little confused about it.
As for players wanting out, I don't mean to sound glib, but a) players say stuff like that...especially this generation, because that's their way of expressing frustration or discontent. b) if a player wants to leave, none of us can stop them. As you so adroitly pointed out, this is a MESSAGE BOARD...are you hearing my message? Do we want them to leave? No. But the university can not do anything to assuage them other than what has already been suggested.

No, wrong again. I did transfer down here with Wal-Mart alnog with JWills dad, and coached JWill when he was a youngster, along with the corner at TT, and several other athletes across the county, some playing baseball, Golf and tennis, but father, no. Board of regents, board of governors, who gives a [deleted]. Stick to the important topis or get off line? I am getting pretty sick of you English/BOARD majors. Truth is truth. My brother and I listened and watched SMU football when Putt Choate (spelling) was the best linebacker in the conference, and before that, when football was football. Stop trying to figure out who I am and address the issues! I would not want to be close to any type of board that has the amount of fear and ignorance as the BOARD OF GOVERNORS has about athletic. Or the fact is they really do not give a [deleted]!

SMU has 3 BILLIONAIRES on the Forbes 400 that I know of. Two of them, Ray Hunt and Gerald Ford, both have estimated net worths of $1.5 BILLION and are very interested in the football program. The interest on $1.5 BILLION at 5% comes to $75 MILLION/year or $6.2 MILLION/month or $205 THOUSAND/Day. However, I am sure that their return is much larger than this because their money is invested in their businesses. I believe Ford sold his California S&L a couple of years ago so his money might be in marketable securities unless he has put it back to work into some other financial institution. $1.5 Million for a coach is pocket change to these guys much less other alumni like Sewell or Sparkman. This school is LOADED with wealthy alumni and several have a keene interest in seeing SMU succeed. I am sure that Orsini already has the money committed or he wouldn't have made the statement in the newspaper that the University is prepared to pay the market price.

I speak and write to my ability; if you don't, that's your own deal. I never said boo to you about it. If you don't like my diction or my choice of words, you can go pound sand.
As for "Board" analysis, I was thinking out loud trying to figure out who you are (which you started, by the way, with all of the "the Shadow knows" crap). Sorry you don't like my analysis at figuring you out; I'll let it go. I had a buddy that got ratted out on another board by a professional peer who didn't have the sense that God gave the common tabloid writer. One's privacy ought to be one's own.
BTW, the first rule of convincing an audience that your ideas should be adopted is to know who the decision makers are. The BOARD OF TRUSTEES is the decision-making group, and you are correct in your assertion that more than half simply couldn't care less about SMU's prospects in football except insomuch as it creates a nice, big, black hole in the university budget...and that, to date, hasn't been enough to motivate a majority to give us all the rest of the changes that we rant about daily. In fact, it tends to create the opposite impression.
The Board of Governors was the entity that enabled SMU to receive the DP. So the distinction just MIGHT be relevant...if for no other reason than you instantly lose credibility in any real debate the minute you confuse the two. So you can rip on my "ENGLISH/BOARD" speak all you want. You sound like a nerd. Just trying to help with that.

And your point about the football proram is what? And OC there is no credibility within the message board, that is why it is a message board/gossip board. I am not debating with anyone, for what reason? We all are just wasting our time and have been for 20 years!

So why are you posting about it? If I've read correctly, you didn't even attend SMU yet you claim to be someone important. Great. You say it is a big waste of time and that we should abandon all hope. So why spend more than half of your day posting negative messages on a message board associated with a school you didn't attend? Do you have hobbies?

Thank you stallion. I found the dictionary, but now the lights are off and I can't see, so here we go again. We keep posting and going back to the same thing all the time. This is bigger than coaching and so far gone it will take a miracle. I hope the miracle happens because the players deserve better, the 5 fans we have deserve better and the school deserves better. But most of you posters deserve exactly what you have been getting for 20 years. Be carefull what you post and pray for.......

Back to the original topic of the thread, what was it again, oh yeah Bob Davie...has he really "proven" anything as a head coach other than he can get his @ss beat? And being annoying in the broadcast booth?

Negative? Have you read any of the other post or just mine? I never played for the Cowboys either, but I love them as well. My post are not negative they are opinions about the downfall of this program. The players and coaches in the last 20 years have tried to the best of their ability to win, but the institution has not. This is all I have been saying and will continue to say until it changes. Do you have a hobby other than trying to discredit me, who really has no credit just opinions like everyone else.
