Coaching Graveyard or Coordinator Graveyard?

Postby PonyKai » Tue Oct 30, 2007 7:23 pm

Uhh so is this place a coaching graveyard or a coordinator graveyard?

Bennett was a D-Coordinator, Cavan was a 1-AA(National Championship?) coach, and an SEC Coordinator. Gregg was an NFL coach, and Rossley was a coordinator too at Rice and Cincy.

So in 20+ years we have had how many coaches with actual experience at the Division 1 level? Zero?

Is it really fair to call this place a coaching graveyard when we haven't had a single coach here? We've had a stop-gap NFL coach, followed by coordinator after coordinator. Maybe there's something to this hiring of a coach with previous experience. Maybe I'm crazy.

Please change the title, I don't want the kids on the team reading the title and making their own conclusions based upon title alone

Yeah, calling SMU a coaching graveyard is BS.

we have gone after Head Coaches-but they didn't want any part of it because it is a Coaching graveyard-the exception is Doherty who rose from the Living Dead at Florida Intersectional or whereever he is from.

All this talk of SMU being a coaching graveyard is pointless. The current captain of this ship is Orsini. Arrrrrrrrrrrr......(too many pirate movies) Anyways, he's already acquired a previous national coach of the year for the basketball team, so why is everyone so doubtful he can't pull another rabbit out of the hat for a new HC. I know SMU hasn't had the best luck in hiring experienced head coaches when it comes to football, but lets exercise some optimism and have faith in our AD.
