I wish we would have gotten your death penalty then. Win the SEC West last year, multiple bowl games, etc. Sounds like heaven to me.
But not at the cost of losing the top QB prospect in the nation, as well as 3 top recruits at WR. Besides, it took him 10 years to win 10 games. He couldn't even do it when we had 14 games one season - 9-5.
He couldn't find integrity without the help of a dictionary. Trust me, on the outside looking in, I'm sure it looks goofy. But everyone I have spoken to after they looked at the goings on, couldn't believe that he is still the coach.
The fans' meltdown came when he got the two year pass of 5-6 & 4-7.
I've lurked around here for awhile, but feel like I have to say something about something as important as this.
Nutt is being given a raw deal by those Piglets. Their team has a bunch of injured receivers this year, and had to deal with a bunch of prima donnas last year that thought they were all ready for the NFL already. They run the ball so much because they have to run it. And look at the talent he has brought into the armpit of the SEC.
We might not be able to pay what he makes in Fayetteville, but we don't have state income tax here either! And he remembers the SWC and what tradition is all about. This would be a great move to get our program back where it belongs.

With the type of offense he runs successfully against SEC opponents, just think what he could do here. He remembers what SMU once was and has the ability to take it back. Look where Arkansas was in 1997 compared to where they were last year. 10 wins is a feat when you've got 8 SEC teams on your schedule. The only game they were out of last year was USC. Most folks thought that they were playing for a national championship shot when they played LSU and they almost pulled it out. If he can take Arkansas to the brink of a national championship, just think what he could do at a school with the talent pool SMU has at its doorstep!
I’ve been saying this for the last 6 months to my friends that with Arkansas having all the trouble making fans up there that we could steal a great football coach next season.
It looks like the time is here,, we would be crazy not to pull out all the stops to get this guy! He would make us into winners and fighters. Also with those Arki fans letting go of the rope, I think we have a great shot at a very special coach.
Houston Nutt is a fine man that cares for his players and gets the most out of them. Mark my words if we are fortunate enough to get him,, he will build a fence around the metoplex during recruiting season.

Yes, sir. You hit the nail on the head.
Houston Nutt is probably one of the top 5 coaches in America. Those Razorback fans our out of their minds. Their negativity have cost them all three of their losses this year.
Houston will prove that he is a winner and a fighter.
I can't wait to hear, "Houston Nutt's SMU Mustangs!"
