I have a friend who is a reporter who covers the Park Cities/Preston Hallow area and he said that HP Scots coach Randy Allen is definitely on the HC list for SMU and will interview. I don't know anything about him other than his '05 success but I haven't seen his name on here yet, and so I thought I'd pass on the word.

The Houston Cougars are about to win another conference title with a High School coach.

If he interviews, fine. But he should not be selected to be the HC at a DI program. Especially this program. That sends the wrong message to the world.
Maybe he can come aboard as an assistant, but not as a HC. I don't see Orsini doing that. I hope not.

Its a courtesy interview. There is no chance that he hires a high school coach as the head man.

as a former player of Allen's, there is no way he would get the job. He has zero college coaching years under him. Briles, UH head coach, atleast went to tech for 3 years and learned under Leach before he got a head coaching job.

This would easily be the worst hire ever made by a Division 1A program-other than that its a swell idea. Whose [deleted] are we kissing to even consider this stupid idea. Come on who is it that is so out of touch with reality that this seems like a GREAT idea.

This guy's probably a bizarro Gerry Faust waiting to happen. And SMU is no Notre Dame.

Since the search committee has not met yet, I doubt there is any truth to this rumor

I'll inquire...
I'm tired of people quoting 999999999th hand information. Did you ever play telephone in grade school?
