It's timeI echo the sentiments expressed earlier that it is time to get off the back of this team and the coaches this year. The team is putting forth the effort and, I believe, will continue to do so. The coaches need support to continue to upgrade the talent level and to try to build some excitement around the past 2 recruiting classes. It is always darkest right before dawn so let's all quit beating a dead horse. I'm out of cliches. SMU forever!!
Re: It's timeThe only way to stay an SMU fan is to take up a hobby. I suggest one that you can do at the game. My suggestion would be reading. Find a good book and take it to the game. Watch the game until SMU gets behind, then take out your book. If SMU gets ahead put the book down and watch again. Other ideas might be neele point--on second thought maybe not. How about model airplane building? Crossword puzzles? Trivial pursuit? We could have whole sections devoted to a particular haobby. The reading section for example.
Re: It's timeNacho,
So you were the guy reading the magazine in front of me. DBB
Re: It's timeHow about designing and modeling Halloween masks at the games this year for a pass time while we are waiting for Bennett to make good. Jez, even Tulsa is winning a few games now.

I know for a fact that there were two Ennis players at your game that could start for you today. One is sought after by Texas Tech. Yes, they were introduced to the coaching staff. Is Bennett interested? No! They aren't even looking. There was one player from Ennis that couldn't make the game that could also start for SMU and make a major impact even as early as Saturday. Are they looking at him? No! If Bennett and company want to get better they show no signs.
Re: It's timeWhoa there son- I doubt that Ennis has 2 players who are good enough to help next Saturday but even IF there were, what is going on here? Do you think Bennett doesn't want good athletes? He had a very good class last year. Do you think maybe he has looked at these kids from Ennis and decided he just won't call them because he is lazy? I'm sorry if your friends haven't gotten any offers from SMU but if they are players, they will. If not, they won't. Interest from TT can mean a lot of things and it doewsn't mean that they will be offered there either. Get a grip. How about a name for these wunderkinds so we can assess how good they are?
Re: It's timeNacho should work for the marketing dept. I'd love to sit in the "Poker Section" or the "Knock-knock jokes section." Just don't put me in the "Body piercings and tatoos while-you-watch section."
Re: It's timeGod I just wish Bennett could make us better quicker! We should have won the Baylor Game, the Nevada Game, and this past Saturday vs UTEP! I dont understand why with 3 minutes left on 4th down and you're down by 2 you would punt it! we did the same thing at Baylor! We need to be a little bit smarter about how we use our time! Go Stangs!

Re: It's timeEnnis DEFINITELY has 2 players that would start next weekend for SMU-QB Graham Harrell who has stats that would make B.J. Symons blush and his star receiver Jenkins. Neither are looking at SMU now and Jenkins has committed to Tech. Both are probably Texas top 30s.

Re: It's timeYes it was AJ that was there, and he is better than any receiver that SMU currently has. The other Ennis player is a DB and last years starting running back. The 3rd the one that couldn't be there is Jarvis Woodson #11. You think that just because the all mighty Mustangs aren't looking at either one is because they aren't players? Please both AJ and Jarvis could start for SMU Saturday. If you don't believe me then check them out. Look at their stats for the last two years or maybe watch some film. Heck it's just right down the road catch an Ennis home game. There is no excuse for having that much talent 30 min away and not even recruit these boys. It's true that AJ has verbally committed to TT but make the right offer and I believe he would change his commitment.

Re: It's timeI have better things to do than drive 500 miles on a Friday night to watch Texas HS football. Not everyone lives in Dallas. If Stallion says there are 2 or 3 boys we should be after, I don't understand why we aren't. I don't believe, however, that ANY high schooler could start for the Ponies next Saturday and make a difference. I especially have never seen a QB who could pass from his back or catch the ball for his recievers. High school stats are very decieving and they can be in college too. Remeber Willie Totten? Some of you real old guys might.
Re: It's timeDoes anyone hear remember Kelan Luker? His high school stats were pretty good, and he didn't exactly turn out to be a recruiting catch.
Re: It's timeOk think what you want but it is funny that AJ is good enough for TT but not for SMU. Jarvis and Cox will end up going somewhere and contibuting big time, too bad Bennett thinks that they have enough. Sure would be nice if the SMU QB had someone to throw it to (if he had time as you say)
Re: It's timeI don't have a clue why we're not persuing these guys. Seems like a foregone conclusion that we'd want them. I DO KNOW that the recruiting machine is supposedly cranking up again (as of this past week), so Ennis may soon be receiving the SMU envoy shortly. Or they may not...
It could be that we're putting all our eggs in the Donald Massey basket (over Jenkins). I know for a fact that we're recruiting a higher ranked QB than Harrell, but who the heck knows if we'll land him. "It's a couple hundred million dollars. I'm not losing sleep over it." -- David Miller
Re: It's timeThe Rivals network had Jenkins receiving an offer and considering SMU earlier in the year before he committed to Tech. Doesn't the DMN have Woodson considering SMU-its still early-I believe that Woodson had a pretty decent year-got any stats from the most prolific passing offense in Texas High School history? Another prospect from Ennis is that LM Tommy Daniels.
