See Houston Preview thread with kudos to mrydel for pointing this out. This is the second time we have heard this claim. Remember Ganaway Fan reported the same thing a week or so ago. So you guys keep thinking SMU does not get beat by the UTEPs, the TCUs, the Tulsas and the UHs by kids that SMU Coaches can't get into school. All those schools beat us with precisely the players we can't get into school. They are difference makers. We're not even bringing up the 8-10 Division 1A transfers UH has run through that program in the last few years. Open your eyes and learn. If you are not informed don't make conclusions on matters you don't understand.

I will remind everyone that the great honest Phil Bennett suggested last year that he couldn't get Rice WR Jarett Dillard into school, either. Of course, it later came out that Dillard had a basketball scholarship offer from Colgate. Oh, and Dillard was quoted in the paper that he was invited to walk on at SMU.

well Rivals reported that Aldridge was either taking or retaking his SAT two weeks before signing date which is a pretty good indicator could not have gotten into SMU.

I am sure he did. Was he taking it to boost his scores to get into SMU or was he taking it to get qualified? I don't subscribe so I don't know.

We are just going by what the SMU athletic director said in a press conference this week. Stallion are you saying Steve Orsini is lying or ill-informed like so many of us in here besides you?

You must get tired from all that jumping you do--to conclusions, that is.

I am sure there are categories of players with lower grades and test scores that meet the minimum NCAA standards but the coaches do not pursue because they know the player would not get into SMU.

"its a jump to conclusions game...You have a mat, and it’s got some conclusions written on it, and you back up next to the mat, and think about a question, and then you jump to a conclusion. Right there on the mat, you jump to a conclusion…â€

I heard Orsini say that the problems alluded to by Bennett had been "addressed" by the Board of Trustees, but that he was still waiting on the board to give him a "timetable" for whatever steps taken to "address" the issues to be implemented. I take that to mean that the problems are still there that the board "addressed" are still there.
What did you hear Orsini say?

I also heard Bennett said changes have been made since he has been at SMU, yet I am unaware of a press release during his tenure saying as much.

Bennett is a terrible head football coach. Put him at UH and they won't have had near the success they have had under Art Briles.

Neither am I. But I did watch a press conference last week where I thought I heard Orsini say what I wrote in that previous post. There is at least one other way to get news out besides a press release, saying it at a press conference.
