No to Neuhisel!First all, its pretty great that five years ago Bennett and Charlie Waters were the contenders and we can even dream to turn down a guy like Neuhisel. That said, he is a young version of Larry Coker and so not the right fit for SMU. Look at his record at Colorado, they got worse every year and then he left them high and dry, took the Washington job because they offered more money, and knew that Colorado was going to be hit with Recruiting violations that he committed! He won a Rose Bowl with Lambright's players (Tuiasoppso), lied to his bosses about interviewing for the 49ners job, lied to them about betting in a college basketball pool, then got fired. Washington, once a proud program has sunken to new lows because of the players he recruited. He is a HORRIBLE judge of talent. The only good thing he did was get Reggie Williams to commit to Washington, and, he had to cheat to to that. He left Washington with recruiting violations as well. He was at Washington and Colorado for 5 years and 6 years, and look how bad of shape he left those programs, that both won national titles in the 90s
Re: No to Neuhisel!
Well said. He left two programs in shambles. No thanks.
He recruits they way Steve Lavin at UCLA did in Basketball. Look at who Rivals rates as a five star, spend all his effort going after them, bat .150 with them, and ignore the rest. He struck out on so many 5-star players from California and ignored the way Don James recruited at Washington. Put a fence around the state of Washington, then get a 5 4 star type players from California who fit your system.
SMU needs a guy who can compete with schools like Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Baylor, TCU, Houston, UTEP, Arizona and then after a few good years, steal a player or two who Oklahoma, A$M, and maybe one day, Texas.
no thanks
