Not sure how much of a difference it will make, but its good to see that the Athletic Department will have some control given the Staff's possible lack of motivation at this point.

Don't know how proactive they can be. But I would think a lot of things would be done in a general sense to keep the lines of communication open between us and whatever coaches/recruits we are talking with.

Just telling them to hang in there or something along those lines.

I think at least part of the reason why this is the case, and possibly even with letting big Serge play this year, is the NCAA is being a little nice to us considering how bad the DP screwed us

On the contrary, this waiver and the proposal that caused the NCAA to grant immediate eligibility speak volumes about the value of Jeff Konya (assistant AD who wrote both, as I hear it). With all due respect to Coach Doherty, I say Konya is Steve-O's best hire since his arrival at SMU.

Doesn't this application for a waiver from the NCAA sound like it might be a while before Orsini hires a new HC. If he had his man and his man was available, he could make a quick hire and start the recruiting process from the HC office. This waiver looks like he is going to take a while to hire a new HC, my guess is after the end of the regular season.

This speculation also makes the argument that Orsini's guy is currently coaching, so Bowden and Barnett are not his guy.

The waiver only goes thru the 10th.
