Lately there has been a lot of talk about moving the annual OU - UT Games from Dallas to Norman and Austin.
I say good ridance!
This is our town!
If they want to come to Dallas and play let them play us! For these schools to recruit here they need to play here. If they leave the Cotton Bowl, we need to get one of them on the schedule,it will take a couple of years but they will realize they need to recruit in Dallas and play before their Alums.

That game is a great money maker for the City of Dallas. In addition, a lot of SMU fans have ties to one of those schools. I personally would hate it if the game got moved to home series, but it might be a reality. The cotton bowl quite simply needs to be larger....After all, it is all about the benjamins....

Will never happen. The only reason they consider moving it is because the state of Oklahoma never sees a dime.
They love the game, the fact the stadium is split down the middle, the rivalry, etc. You take Dallas out of it and you take some of the luster away.
The attitude dictates that you don't care whether she comes, stays, lays, or prays. I mean whatever happens, your toes are still tappin'. Now when you got that, then you have the attitude.

Actually, I have a more Machiavellian reason for wanting them to go home and home with each other. Then, they will need to start scheduling games in DFW in order to please their alums and for recruiting reasons. Given their penchant for scheduling easy prey, they would be more likely to choose SMU over any other school in DFW with the lone problem being our size of stadium. Thus, if they stop playing the annual game in Dallas (which by the way will probably never happen), we could be the indirect beneficiaries. In fact, we might get offered a wad of money to move the game to Texas Stadium or the Cotton Bowl like Rice did to move their game to Reliant Stadium.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

Dallas would be foolish not to meet the reasonable demands of these schools.
I suspect the game will continue at the Cotton Bowl until Jerry Jones completes his new stadium, at which point we will find out how important seat capacity really is. IMO the State Fair of Texas is the ideal venue.
If it does become a home and home series, I could see the State Fair wanting to replace that game with some other game during fair time. Maybe SMU could work its way into the mix.

Let em move it. They're just trying to extort more money out the City of Dallas, and area merchants. Greedy little bastards.
May the forth be with us.

Same old, same old, when it comes to moving the OU/UT game out of the Cotton Bowl. T'ain't gonna happen as long as the business interests of Dallas want the game here. So lock up your valuables, get the women and children off the streets, and let the Big Dogs roar.

It would be extremely foolish (from an economical standpoint)for the city of Dallas to lose this game. We gain nothing by losing this event to Austin and Norman. We lose a lot of $$$$.

There was a DMN article recently. How can you let that much tradition just fade away. I think it would be a shame but they could definitely fit 90-100K in a stadium somewhere. Tickets are hard to come by. The $$ figures in the DMN article didnt make sense at all.

Probably doesn't hurt that there are more UT fans in Dallas than there are SMU fans.

Supply and Demand: Make the face value of a ticket $750. Don't expand seating. Keep playing in the Cotton Bowl until the sucker caves in. Then, move it to the Real California Cheese Stadium, Fine Arts Palladium, Museum and Water Park (capacity 100,000) out in Las Colinas. When the Cotton Bowl is condemned, its over. The game will never be the same. And you'll be the old codger telling people about "back when........".
