If he came here, went 8-4, stockpiled our talent, and went to a bowl game, he could take a dump on my front lawn for all I care.
He probably would, then he'd leave for the next team and repeat the process. Then you'd be back in the same boat we're in now.

Except for winning records, bowl games, a program on the rise and recruiting at a peak. Then all you have to do is follow with a good coach and continue the program. TCU did it with Patterson.
Just send 'da money.

OK, since I posted my knee-jerk reaction...
...actually, this is growing on me if there's any truth to this.
What an absolutely day this has become.

There would be less disruption in recruiting than in possible any job change in NCAA football history. In fact, this would open the door to a whole new talented group of prospects RIGHT NOW. For those that think we are close. Fran might be one of the best choices for making sure we don't blow an entire recruiting class.

Oh I forgot. You don't have to shell out money to buy out a contract.

I have to agree, I was uninspired by Fran, until Stallion posted that. Now I'm warming to it.

Hey I hate Coach Fran. Not only because he (and LaDanian) molded TCUseless into a power house, and also really douched it up nicely at Alabama. And of course I hate all things Aggie.
However, I think I could get past all my hard feelings if he is truly heading this way.
And you know, we always want stability with this position. Well, if someone comes here makes us a winner and then leaves - fine. It's better than where we are now.

For those complaining that Fran may leave after a successful year or two, consider our basketball coach. He has left 2 different schools after 1 year. Would any of you have turned him down? I'm not saying Fran is the answer, but that argument is bogus. That possibility exists for any coach when we are only a mid-major program.

Add the froggie and aggie trash to my reasons for disliking the guy, and I'm even farther out. The guy is a first-rate sleeze. I want to win really bad, but I don't know that I want to win that bad. There must be another, better candidate. I honsetly think the guy is way overrated. He won at NM and TCU. What has he done lately...with much better talent and resources than he would have here?

I understand the point, but am more than willing to see a short stay in Basketball than Football...at least considering our last 20 years.

He is not my first choice....but TCU didn't return to the "sinking ship" after he left. Fran left TCU but he righted the ship before he left. If we get Fran and he gets offered some huge job wouldn't that mean he had done well at SMU? Isn't that what we want? Is your logic....marry an ugly girl and you'll never have to worry? Lets try hiring somebody that sombody may want someday instead of guys that we fire and then they go into fundraising.
