I saw where Otule went from NR to 2 stars as sooned as he committed.

Also, I don't understand why there's not more info on the mystery man Clarke. Its just seems unusual that someone of his talent level is not mentioned more. I would like to find out more about him other than the little bit of info mentioned previously on the board. Hopefully once the Michigan HS season begins there will be more info.

Unfortunately SMU's local athetic reputation is terrible. That is what the DP and 20 years of consistent FB losing will get you.
BB is getting the tarred with the same brush. I thought Dement was a great coach and a good recruiter. Tubbs unfortunately was over hi head. I really wanted Tubbs to suceed.

Doherty has to recruit nationally to build a winner. A 3 star is a 3 star regardless of location. Most recruits from the North see Dallas as JR, sunshine, and beautiful women. SMU is not well know and they probably have a neutral opinion.

I thought Bennett was correct to recruit locally but after 3 poor recruiting classes I could see he was getting nowhere. You can almost see the kids roll their eyes when a local kid commits to SMU.

Barnett can recruit nationally which is what he will have to do to turn this around.

When Ron Meyer was first hired, he started recruiting Houston very heavy. In part, because our reputaion was so bad in the metroplex, kind of like it is now.

We just have to recruit better in the greater Houston area. It's a goldmine and Bennett's staff either didn't want to go down there or did something stupid to never really go into that area.

Whatever it was, it was horrible.
