Shula was 6-6 last year at Alabama, and 10-2 the year before that, in the toughest conference in America. He's 42, a good speaker, good looks, legacy name, recruited the metroplex for Alabama, got the qb from Southlake Greg McElroy.......I think he would be a great candidate.

1.3 milion a year, lives in a major city, best recruiting area in the country, you win 8 games it is national news and you are the coach who brought SMU back from the dead. There are a lot worse jobs and I dont think he gets a BCS job this year.

this would make sense. National name, won 10 games in the SEC, and has ZERO image problems

Mike is married, and has three young children. Mob boss Orsini, and coach Doherty have both said how their wives LOVE living in the Park Cities, and their kids LOVE going to Highland Park Schools. (parents have to love that as well) Big selling points to fathers, and parents of school age kids.

he's going to sit back, building his NFL resume and wait for the NFL to come to him or wait for a top College job. He's young and has only 1 more shot. I have no problem considering him but I wouldn't hold my breath.

How much do QB coaches make in the nfl?

When he was at Bama he made the following:
"Shula's contract, which is worth $1.55 million annually"

And it sounds like we might be just under that salary wise.

"Shula was in over his head at Alabama, although he faced difficult circumstances. Not only did he take over one of the most prominent head coaching jobs in the country without the right seasoning, he did so in the worst possible situation. Not only was the team smack in the middle of stringent NCAA penalties but he was the third head coach in one offseason, after Dennis Franchione bolted for Texas A&M and Mike Price got caught in an embarrassing scandal with a stripper."

And parts of the above sound similar to the doh hire......

But could Shula get a better college job if he waited for a bcs job?
