It's been a wild few weeks for College Station (Texas) A&M Consolidated two-star tight end prospect Andrew Ellison.
Andrew Ellison said he's sticking with his SMU pledge.
The 6-foot-2, 232-pounder has been fighting through injuries this season that has caused him to miss five games in his senior season, plus he's also going to through a situation that saw the coach he committed to get fired.
On the injury front, Ellison said he partially tore some ligaments in his ankle. That caused him to miss five games, but he got back recently he was moved to fullback and also to linebacker. He's now playing almost exclusively at linebacker, and that's been a big adjustment.
"I've now been there for three games, and I'm starting to feel more comfortable and fitting in," Ellison said. "I'm not doing too bad for not having played there for three years. I'm doing really well now, and we're 4-1 in district. We've got one more game before playoffs, so I'm excited about that."
Ellison is also having to make an adjustment in the recruiting front.
He committed to SMU back in late July and with the recent firing of Phil Bennett, Ellison had some questions about his future with the Ponies.
"I thought about withdrawing my commitment, and I got really concerned," Ellison said. "I wasn't the most sure about what was going to happen. But then I talked to Larry Edmondson and to coach Bennett and then the athletic director. The athletic director called me and told me about what was going on with everything.
"He told me about how they were going to improve everything and that gave me a lot of confidence. He didn't throw out any names of potential coaches, because he didn't want to say anything yet, but he did say he was going after a big name guy. After hearing that, I'm a very strong commitment."
Before he pulled the trigger, Ellison also had offers from Tulsa and Houston.

As I said on another thread..."I don't really think Steve O is going to actually be recruiting. I think it was more a matter of getting permission to contact the recruits so that he could explain what he is trying to do and encourage our commitments to stay committed."

Good. I thought the post meant he was our new Offensive Coordinator.

I was just copying what was on ESPN. I couldn't figure out what OC meant either.

Or some of our DEs pan out so we can get our LB's back into position.

I thought that BUS until I realized there is not a defensive center so why would it not just be C.

He's the first to announce this, so he's now my favorite player in this class. ponydawg wrote:The 6-foot-2, 232-pounder
I hope the talk of him playing LB holds true - that's what a LB is SUPPOSED to look like.
