Then I looked at SMU's future schedule which looks pretty boring and dismal as well as seriously lacking interest.
Thus, I have 3 questions:
1. Is SMU's boring schedule just the result of past bad Copeland/Bennett decisions?
2. Do you think Orsini will schedule better games (i.e. TCU playing Texas, LSU, etc....)?
3. After all this time, why hasn't SMU played Texas. And don't say because we don't travel or Texas has nothing to gain because Texas has very little to gain by playing Sam Houston State and I can assure you that Sam Houston State doesn't travel.
Anyway, I applaud Tulane's decision to schedule games of interest irrespective of the fact that the odds are against them. Further, Tulane went into half time against LSU this year trailing by a point 10-9 (If Forte didn't fumble in the third quarter the game may have been different). Now that's fun to watch. Plus, if you catch a Texas or LSU on a bad year and you're set.
Lastly, I disagree with all those who think a win over a North Texas is better then a close loss to Oklahoma. Plus, two losses won't keep you out of a bowl. So, I don't want to hear that arguement either. I hope part of Orsini's TOP 25 GOAL ALSO INCLUDES A TOP 25 SCHEDULE
First mistake you made was to listen and believe anything coming out of Orsinis mouth. He will tell the public anything. Just nail his [deleted] to the wall when you see the results. Like most of you did PB. High hopes coming in with all the talk (that's his job, get you to the moment but no climax).
Do you ever get the feeling that when POPs867-5309 posts on this board that a dark cloud has just come over this web site? And then when you read one of his posts, you feel like those are precious seconds of your life you'll never get back?

UT doesn't need games in Dallas since it plays here every year against OU. Second, we don't want to go to Austin for a paycheck without at least some return visit to SMU. Copeland and Orsini have been pretty adamant that we don't want away only deals unless there is a hole in the schedule. If we improve, UT would not want to play us, because they wouldn't want to risk a loss.
WestTex- We play at UTEP next year because they're in CUSA and they played in Dallas this year. That's how things work in a conference.

They could easily play the game at the Cowboy's new stadium in the future-problem solved!

Forget the fact SMU may be shortchanged money wise. It will sure help with respect to alumni involvement as well as recruiting. And if SMU played in Austin, everyone of you idiots would be there. Can't say the same about a game against North Dallas. I wish SMU had the Fresno State "play anyone anywhere time" mentality. Even TCU figured that out. It's Sad that all of you are against playing the big schools and don't demand that Orsini schedule such games.

BoazHoes wrote:you guys are tards. ut doesn't want to play us based on our teeny tiny stadium. they would love to give their dallas alums a game in their backyard as they do their houston (rice - seating 60,000+) alums. instead they go a few blocks over to tcu which can house their 50,000+ fans. thank for nothing gerald ford... you couldn't give a few more bucks to have a bigger stadium?
Sorry but I appreciate Mr. Ford.
You can donate the money to finish off the stadium to your standards or help fill the seats. I'm sure once we start selling out to appreciative fans like yourself, Mr Ford will gladly pay to increase the stadium size.

All Darth cares about is that the Golden Girls in the Mizzou Band comes here. He remembers them from when the "Hold that Tiger" Band came to the Cotton Bowl and WOW! was Darth impressed by the Golden Girls!!!!!!

Hmmmm....talking about my alma mater there, TRT. The fastest-growing state school in Texas. Student population now exceeds 16,400. Bearkats travel better than you might expect...usually to games against SFA, McNeese State, TSU-SM, Nicholls State and Northwestern State. In OOC games, SHSU faithful traveled well to Austin, Dallas and Stillwater the past two years. Therefore, I beg to differ with your opinion of my alma mater.

Sorry, but Sam Houston is a 4th Tier situation. Why not play the University of Phoenix?

I'm sure one thing a new coach will be looking at is whether we have any cupcake games OOC, the first few years. A new coach will want as many of those games as he can get. Look at A&M's, or Va. Tech's OOC schedule, or even Michigan's for that matter. One game at most against tough competition. Michigan just didn't expect Appalachian State to be any good. So, ease off on wanting to sell us off for body bag games until we are ready for them. I figure five years from now in 2012 when we play the Aggies, we'll be ready. I'm sure Bennett saw Navy on the schedule for his first game (a team that was horrible the year before) and figured, this is great. Then then field caught on fire, and so did Navy. And it was all downhill from there.
