Another advantage to Barnett

Post by Lawgrad »

Besides the fact that Barnett has already shown that he can coach at programs with academic "issues", and be successful, one of the other advantages of having him as our next head coach is his age. Namely, he's 61, and by the time he gets this program turned around, he won't be as desirable to big time BCS programs because of it. Let's face it, when you look at the hiring practices of the big BCS schools, they are trending younger, not older. I would much rather have someone here for 5-10 years than someone like Bowden who wants to work his magic and get the hell out of dodge as quickly as possible.

Let's just get him hired, let him start recruiting, and hope that he still has some of that mojo left in his tank.

You just stated the obvious-most of us know the reasons why Barnett is a likely candidate-

Phil = 4 letters
Gary = 4 letters

Barnett, Bennett, Barnett, Bennett, Barnett, Barnett, Bennett, Barnett, Bennett, Barnett

Barnett: Coached at a Big12 North school
Bennett: Coached at a Big12 North school

I'm confused. Too similar for me.
