BTW, they say we have contacted him?? Is it possible or legal for us to contact candidates that are currently employed and coaching?? sorry, i forgot everything i learned in employment law classes with jane dolkhart...
why would Orsini NOT contact a guy he knows if he views that guy as a good HC candidate...ESPECIALLY if that guy fits the budget?
Orsini's "career" is also on the line with this decision. He knows the issues and the challenges ahead. He'll have to be a pretty good salesman to attract a quality guy for this job...and whoever the new HC might be will have to put together a staff of salesmen who can convince a bunch of teenagers that SMU is the right place for them to get their educations and win championships.
Like it or not, we all know this isn't an overnight fix and we shouldn't kid ourselves into thinking that throwing megabucks at a Barnett or Bowden is going to change that.
Billy Joe wrote:I hope we are contacting a lot of people for the job. Head coaches, former coaches, assistants, etc. Remember, Bob Stoops was an assistant coach before he got his first head coaching job at OU.
Yes and so was PHIL BENNETT. We are not OU. We can't afford to experiment with another Off. or Def. coordinator. It takes a lot more to get good athletes to come to SMU than it does OU or Texas. We need a big name hire or else we will more than likely experience more losing for years to come.
This guy is a turd for a candidate. So many more qualified assistants than him. He and Pinkel were almost fired 2 years ago.
............They were almost fired. QB Daniel saved their a---s and Daniel, from Southlake Carroll, would have saved Bennett's if he had been able to recruit him..... I could not see this guy as a candidate either.
