Thomas Morstead

Post by ALEX LIFESON »

I have been holding back on this post for a while now. Thomas has a strong leg, but I am willing to give Cunningham a look from less than 40 yards. Yesterdays two misses were a killer. Yes they were fairly long, but within in his range, and the last one really hurt us. Then you add in the missed chip shots against Tulsa and UTEP, and you have to wonder about his ability to handle the slightest bit of pressure. That might also apply to pressure punts too, look at his last two punts againts UTEP in the 4th quarter, punting from UTEP's 37, he sends it into the endzone. Then he shanks a 20 some odd yarder. There were slight pressure kicks last year he folded on as well. I was told by a couple of players parents last night, that he has been dealing with a lack of confidence all season, and it shows.

he's got pro potential as a punter, his kicking (although still good) is a little behind his punting, I think thats fairly obvious to everyone

Our kicking game with Morstead is lightyears beyond what it was a few years ago. There was a stretch where we held our breaths on every extra point, and it seemed like we missed more than we made. I've been quite happy with Morstead's performance.

The kicker before morestead was McMurtray who made 18 straight fieldgoals.

I think he means punting more than FGs
