Dement's UNC-G team beats Ga Tech

Postby Charleston Pony » Sat Nov 10, 2007 8:24 am

in Atlanta last night, 83-74. Had to overcome a 4 pt Ga Tech lead at half. Dement came to SMU after a 25-3 season at UNC-G and appears he may be rebuilding that program. They had slipped to a less than .500 team while Mike was at SMU.

Good for him but Ga Tech is supposed to stink this yr. It's probably a lot easier for him to recruit as well. Much easier.

Best of luck to coach Dement. Regardless of what happened here, he seems to be a great fit at that tier and I wish him continued success.

he was probably a good fit at this "tier" too. At the end, i favored letting Dement go, but he did some good things early in his tenure here and got close to breaking through.

He's the best Coach we've had at this school since the DP. The only thing holding Dement back from reaching its goals was SMU itself. When the promise wasn't achieved after early success the program spiraled down just like it has for every other Coach in Football and Basketball. The best example of how SMU's Model has hindered success.
