So then what do you suggest we do with our extra QBs?

I don't disagree with you in general, but I do in this specific instance. The coaching staff knows what they have in Chris Bulter. I think it was last spring, or maybe it was at media day, but Coach Bennett said something about how Martin was is much better shape this year, and how people would be suprised about the impact Mapps would have. Then he said something to the effect that they might have an even better back waiting in the wings in Chris Butler. That's probably not even a good paraphrase, but that was the gist of what he said. I don't know what to think about Martin other than he looks done to me. On his two big runs off right tackle, there were huge holes. On his run from the one yard line (and on other carries), he ran up to the line of scrimmage and when there wasn't a hole, he came to a dead full stop. I don't get it. At 220 lbs. or whatever, you just blow right through. When you stop your momentum and turn your body sideways to the line of scrimmage, anybody can knock you over. I fugured ofter last year's debacle at Race, a brick wall wouldn't have stopped Martin from 1 yard out.
In 2006 after the 64 yard run at Rice, where he was caught from behind......Martin said that he wouldn't be caught from behind again. Well it happened on both long runs yesterday, from a little white guy at that.
I really think Martin needs to be moved to TE, he has shown he's got some good hads and he has the size needed. U cant be a running back if you run like your scared that being said u cant be a TE if you run like your scared. But the new coaches must find a new way to use him, when your that big you have to be able to score from the 1 yard line and he has proving time and time again he cant. I havent seen much of Butler but i know he is a thicker back and could be used as a punisher. Mapps has so much talent you have to let him be on the field as much as possible.[/i]
Oh no he didnt!!! I was excited when DeMyron committed to us, and I was even more excited when Richuel Massey committed to us, but I think that the bigger schools recruiting them were right...they should've both been fullbacks at the D-1 level. There is a reason both committed to us and not the bigger schoools... Dallas Mavericks - 2011 NBA CHAMPIONS!
Long live the Circle of Champions!
Don't worry about them, they will transfer to 1AA schools. Just send 'da money.
The best thing that can happen for our running back situation is a new coach. The new coach wont remember the TCU game 2 years ago, he will see that Mapps is the best of the bunch, and hopefully give him an opportunity to be the man!
