That is the most coherent, and accurate post you have made. I agree with it too.

Whatever discipline/expectations or whatever culture the new staff brings in, they better ride Willis harder than anybody else on this team. It will send the message to the rest of the team:

"Hey, if they're doing this to him, then we're going to get it and we better step it up!"

And if Willis thinks some of the work is considered remedial, if I'm the coach, I'd tell him, "Fine, then this shouldn't be a problem for you!"

And I could give a damn what Pops867-5309 thinks.

You will have half the team quit, ask Vic. When Vic came in and implemented his training workouts, several players said seeya. JWill can take it, can the rest. He can't play every position by himself.

I wish you knew the entire story. Change yourself into a fly and hear about linemen laughing during film time when they have missed blocks. Kids coming to practice stoned. Injured players, not really injured. Seniors quitting before the season ever started. Players missing practice to sleep because they are tired. Players were on the sidelines laughing when we were losing.[/quote]

Im sorry but all those things above HAPPEN ALMOST EVERY YEAR, especially for the past 5...thats a good fact for you man.

Name the scholarship players that quit?

Thank you Stallion! Where are we two deep this year or the previous 5 years? Slater knew he did not have a chance to play no matter what. Could not learn the offense. Two types of QB's, one that can run your offense and the other you have to make up plays for them to run. Freshman kids not ready for another 3 years, JWill will be gone.

Hes trying to turn a busted play into a jackpot but he cant do that and he just plain F ups...

He'll learn to take care of the ball because once the seasons officially over, there are NO starters and NO ONE is guarenteed [deleted]...

heres to hoping the new coach shakes things up ALOT

What is there to shake up? We are not two deep at any position. We haven't been two deep in 15 years. What are you wishing for a miracle JT? It anit happening at SMU in your lifetime. Support what we have and do the best with that. We are 10 points and 60 seconds away from being 6-4. What would you be typing then?

Theres lots to shake up...and the new coach will do that. as for not being two deep at any position, im sure theres a "backup" at every position no matter if there are excess injuries involved. a new coach will make sure he's atleast 2 and 3 deep at every position...and i'd still be typing the same ol crap i type.

Virginias 10 points from being 5 games below .500 but they now control there own destiny for an ACC title. so lets throw "what ifs" out the window for now. or atleast until a new coach is named.

and if we were 6-4, would PB still be clearing out his office at seasons end? I DONT THINK SO...but if my memory serves me correct, you said PB was gone at the end of this year no matter what would happen

Say what you will about Willis but he has taken a lot of big hits this year. And he bounces back up and goes right back for more. He hasn't backed down from anybody. Yes, he has made mistakes but I think that is from trying too hard. And if all of us on this message board are frustrated about the season, I can only imagine how he feels. Had I been wearing a helmet on Saturday, I would have thrown mine too. :)

Good thing we had all of our SMU helmets bolted down, at the Special Delivery tent!

Still one of the top 40 QB's in the nation on an 1-9 team. Game has slumped, I beg to differ. He has progressed through this season of complete disaster. Once againg your opinions are just that, and appreciated. Stay supportive.

Without JW, Rice doesnt get close to 43 points either...

Oxymoron: "one of the top 40 QBs in the nation on an 1-9 team"

Did you watch the game. Did you see what JWill was telling burns about the receivers running in instead of out or out instead of in. C'mon JT a 4th grader could see the receiver went the wrong way. JWill knew it and the receivers knew. How many dropped balls again, and JWill MISSED TWO WIDE OPEN RECEIVERS. Keep it real man. Do not be a typical fan and bash the next person in line. Coach is first, now he is gone, so let's work on JWILL. The only player on a football team that has to have good stats in the QB, because his states leads to point. We have scored enough points to win 7 games. What is the real problem JT?

I hear my guys talk and many of the players feel same way that Willis has not created good chemistry with the team and he is not a team leader or a team player. He is selfish and not discipline. I get the feeling at this point it's all about Willis instead of the other players combined. What a shame. I want the best for the players and their families, Want Willis to learn the best and use his God given talent the right way.

. Maybe he gets competition, He may learn how to be humble.
Yes, I blame Coaches for not putting their foot down and giving him the training he needs. But making himout that he is the one that the best is just plain nonsence. That why we loss.

If Big Daddy wants to get me, just come on because I have more blood and concussions on that field than he does.

I wish you knew the entire story. Change yourself into a fly and hear about linemen laughing during film time when they have missed blocks. Kids coming to practice stoned. Injured players, not really injured. Seniors quitting before the season ever started. Players missing practice to sleep because they are tired. Find out the facts first before you type. Jwill trying to do to much, yes, I agree. Need to humble himself, I don't know. He is tired of getting beat by teams that should not beat SMU. Saturday he got really pissed off which tell me he cares. Players were on the sidelines laughing when we were losing. I agree with some coaches that do not allow injured players on the practice field or sidelines. That is something that is earned. Bigdaddy is not going to get anybody. This is a damn good message board and your opinions are actually damn good ones.

Pops,
I expect more out of him, so I'm tougher on him because he has a chance to be an extraordinary player. But there are some guys who need to be pushed by competition and Willis needs that in my opinion.

And as far as the players laughing are concerned, that crap has been going on all season.

Whoever comes here, the entire infrastructure and culture of this program has to change. It has to come from the inside out.

We cannot have these type of things happen at SMU, we are not that good. So, maybe players like JWill, Zack Sledge (mister overacheiver) and Ben Poynter need applauded, not hammered after busting their butts for an entire season and not quitting.

Looks like someone didnt play football growing up because if you did, the team doesnt necessarily start with the QB, the Offense starts with the O-Line...stats dont mean sh*t bro, especially if you cant win games. Then after the O-Line, you need a good rushing attack. WILLIS HAS TO PUT UP "gaudy" BIG STATS because hes a QB in a spread Offense. im not saying hes a system QB because there is no system here.

Your "only player" quote really shows how bad this team is...

The REAL problem is the WHOLE TEAM, every player, schlarship or not. Majority of those guys quit mentally when the bowl game was trashed, then when PB was canned. They flat out gave up, u can blame play calling all you want but PB and Burns didnt want to lose that game and werent going to let "conservative" playing be the loss of the game.

4 quarters make up a football game, someone tell those players on the sideline last night that they only played 3 to 3 and a half at most.
