we lost to southern....and alabama state....and you are excited?
I was disappointed by those losses. I was really hoping that we would do well in our NC play. However, I am extremely excited about the future. I was talking with a friend last night about this. Watching the games, you can see a lot of diamonds in the rough. They need to get used to playing college ball and not all of the pieces of the puzzle are there, but you can see that in the next few years, we are going to be great!
Again talking with my friend, we were talking about Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, and LeBron James. Jordan was drafted in 1984 by the Bulls. The Bulls didn't win their first championship until 1991. It took time for Jordan to get adjusted to the level of play in the NBA and lead his team to a championship. You could see the greatness even in his rookie year. LeBron James took the Cavs to the Finals last year, but he is playing the entire game by himself. He doesn't have the supporting cast yet. He hasn't gained the experience he needs at the NBA level yet. Duncan was able to win a championship within his first two years. However, it was not because he played great at the NBA level. He had proven winners (Robinson, Kerr, etc.) playing with him. It took him a while before his level of play was up to where he could lead the team.
The thing that is going to be fun about watching this year won't be the losses...cause there will probably be a lot of those. It will be fun to see what our team will become. If some great things happen (i.e. big wins over big teams), we can celebrate more.
