I don't think he could make nice with the fan base either. He blew off my then 2 y.o. daughter giving him the Pony Ears in a restaurant here in FW. He earned the schmuck award in my book that night.

Let me start of by saying that I think Craig James is a good person and came to SMU because his high school girlfriend Marylin (now his wife) was a year ahead of him at SMU. If he received any perks, it was after he enrolled at SMU. You can't tell me UT or LSU doesn't take care of their players once they are in the program in this day and age of 2007.
I think it is great that he is talking to Orsini through the media. Anyone like him talking about SMU in the media only helps raise the profile of SMU nationally. Craig demands a lot of SMU because all the facilties are in place and it is in a great city. He is right to expect 9-3, 10-2, or 8-4 every year.
All that being said, there is a rumor that he is not a Mustang Club member and does not give back to the school financially. I don't know if that is true, but it's dissapointing if that is the case.
P.S. Hiring James as the head coach would be a Drexler like hire. Drexler did not have the hunger or stamina to recruit all year and eat sponge cake in each recruits living room. I can't imagine James would want to do those things as well.

I see your point. If the hunger isn't there then forget it. But if James told Orsini, "I really want this job", I think Orsini should give it to him.

That's insane. Just because he wants it doesn't mean he's qualified to coach it at a D-I school.

It's good to have CJ on the team.
But he doesn't need to be coaching it.
He is much more valuable to the school as someone with a national platform who can be our most vocal, and visible, supporter.

Hasn't it been pretty well documented that CJ came to the Hilltop for the "triangle" not cash?
I think it was for the "Landing Strip".

back then it was all triangle, landing strip didn't come into vogue for a few years.
Now that we have that out of the way, this would be an insane hire, if he wanted it, which I don't think he does.
Finally a question. haven't seen much in the paper about interviews or anything, will the head start you have serve any purpose if Orsini doesn't get crackin?

I blame this whole mess on Copeland. Post - Cavan should have been a landmark hire at such a perfect time. New Stadium, Land Mark Coach, it would have been perfect. I would love to tell off Copeland if I ever saw that piece of....

I really want 20 million in cash, a date with Halle Berry, and of course world peace.

We can't hire Craig James, he played football at SMU when they paid players and we will not hire anybody with a past.
