And the buzz in the football world surrounding this job has officially died. I have a sneaking suspicion that we will be feeding on left overs and scraps that fell from the table come Mid December. Here's what I also know -
Barnett is interested, but SMU apparently has no interest in him (according to some on this board). Unbelievable that SMU would pass on him if thats true.
At least three other top coaching candidates (includes Bowden and another former hc and a top d-1 coordinator) have absolutely zero, zilcho interest in the SMU job. No b.s.
Reportedly (from some on this board), Gill is not interested.
So, I ask you who IS interested? I certainly haven't found em. Please tell me if you know something and I will dig into it. No b.s. (I'm talking to you cheerleaders with the rose colored glasses who think SMU is a coach magnet.)
I could be wrong, but I suspect Orsini is a bit stressed right now and frustrated by the proclamations of Turner (who is only echoing the outcry from the faculty and administration) that SMU will not hire someone with a past. I have to believe Orsini would pull the trigger on Barnett otherwise. Seriously - based on the lack of interest from my research and the deafening silence surrounding this opening - I am very concerned.

And I am concerned for you. Go back to the froggie board and take a pill.

Why do you think nobody has interviewed yet? This strikes me as very odd. I'm sure there have been some private meetings, but there is no way you can hide an official interview. I would expect this if Bennett's departure came as a surprise, but at the end of last season it was pretty obvious he was not Orsini's guy.

This guy is either a frog or perhaps even our long lost mean green gem. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

Mrydel, why would you say that? Because I happen to be saying things that are uncomfortable? You don't like them? Choose not to believe me, but don't call me a toad or pond scum. Save for Stallion, I don't see any of you who are really in touch with reality. I hope and pray for SMU to turn it around. I am somewhat of an old timer, but it is what it is.

SMU should drop football and just concentrate on tennis.

Coog high might want to concentrate on staying within 48 points of a mediocre Tulsa.

He looked awfully relaxed out on the Vard. Could it be that he has someone all wrapped up and is just waiting for the appropriate time to announce it. Not saying that is the case, but then...it could be. Right?

Where exactly have you done your research? Internet message boards?

A+
We will never hear from this turkey ( or froggie ) again after the new coach is named and all his proclamations of inside information are proven wrong. Me thinks he bleeds purple.

It is all about $$$$$. If SMU is getting the $$$$ together like they say then there will be a lot of interest in this job. Granted, there are going to be a few coaches who say no thanks but that is with most hc jobs. If SMU is willing to pay then they will get a big named coach.

I think you could hide whatever you needed to hide. Orsini is smart. I don't expect to hear anything until after the last game. To me, that would be the classy thing to do. Bennett at least deserves that.

Professing a love for Stallion really makes me believe you are smoking something.

I think Biggin has made his point with a fair representation of the Market as I see it. There is little evidence that he is incorrect. What little evidence there is supports some of his conclusions. Until his information proves non-credible then its hard to label him as a little Toad. You live and die by your reputation and your record. We'll see. He could be our dear friend Craig James.
