biggin, what of the Houston Nutt & Franchione talk? Someone mentioned Dave McGinnis. SMU has made a couple of overtures to Jeff Bower in the past...maybe they've talked to him again?
Interesting that we have two extremes. We have those holding on to Steve O saying he "wouldn't jump without a parachute" and at the other hand, we have the "we're not going to get jack sh*** and it's gonna suck like its always sucked and we're gonna get a spare at best."
Hopefully Steve O's line about a parachute at the Blvd wasn't posturing to make himself feel better.
We'll see.
As for biggin=CJ, well one never knows. It would lend more credence to his argument than if he were, say, Gary Patterson

I hope it doesn't take that long. If it is a "done deal", I don't see what would be the problem with announcing it sooner rather than later...at the latest the week after the last home game.
I consider biggin no one to even recognize since he comes to the board and posts 30 times all the doom and gloom because we have not yet hired a coach. He represents himself to be a person who has spoken to all of these coaches yet gives no means of confirmation. So far there have been 4 coaches that are, and have been, without coaching jobs for several years that we have not hired. How about biggin giving me quotes from the currently active coaches that have said no. He can not because they are still in their jobs and some, such as Nutt do not know for sure what their future holds. If biggin wants to come to the table with some facts other than 16 days have gone by (less than the time it took us to hire Doherty and we thought that was fast) and there is nothing to show for it I will listen. Until then he is just another mouth, just like me, that has no idea what Orsini is doing in regard to the search. Come December 15th with no coach, and I will string the rope and be first in line at the gallows.

I would expect this if Bennett's departure came as a surprise, but at the end of last season it was pretty obvious he was not Orsini's guy.
I think you could hide whatever you needed to hide. Orsini is smart. I don't expect to hear anything until after the last game. To me, that would be the classy thing to do. Bennett at least deserves that.
The last game is 11-24-07 against Memphis. The math says that is only 11 days away. Not too long to wait!
It is all about $$$$$. If SMU is getting the $$$$ together like they say then there will be a lot of interest in this job. Granted, there are going to be a few coaches who say no thanks but that is with most hc jobs. If SMU is willing to pay then they will get a big named coach.
...................I'm glad someone hear went to Cox and understands the value of MONEY.
I may be way off, but I have a gut feeling Orsini has his man locked up. Like he should, he's simply waiting to the Monday after the last game to make the announcement. Based on the Yahoo Sports report yesterday, the "Craig James" comments by Orsini and his reportedly giddy demeanor on the Boulevard last Saturday, maybe it was Bowden all along.
