and from your list

1. Bill Callahan Nebraska - eh
2. Bill Doba Wash. St. - not a minor splash, will likely retire
3. Chan Gailey Ga. Tech - possible
4. Dan Hawkins Colorado - 2nd year, doing well, not going anywhere
5. Dennis Franchione Texas A&M - does not fit Turners requirements
6. Jim Grobe Wake Forest - not a big splash
7. Joe Tiller Purdue - interesting. But would he rather retire?
8. Karl Dorrell UCLA - worst coach in 1-A
9. Kirk Ferentz Iowa - interesting
10. Houston Nutt Arkansas - possible
11. Mike Riley Oregon St. - OSU is VERY happy with him.
12. Paul Johnson Navy - Not a BCS school
13. Phillip Fulmer Tennessee - will retire or stay at UT
14. Ralph Friedgen Maryland - possible
15. Sylvester Croom Miss. St. - not getting canned
16. Tommy Bowden Clemson - possible
17. Ty Willingham Washington - seems unlikey.

Maybe it's Mike Leach. How much is he getting paid?

Isn't Sand Aggy somewhat disenchanted with him not being able to win the Big 12 South?

Leach would definitley be a "WOW" and unexpected hire.

My top gambling handicapper, Sam "Ace" Rothstein, talked to Orsini personally and told me Terry Bowden is a lock and for us to not worry about it.

As a long time Charger fan, please please please don't let it be Smilie Mike Riley.

I'll punch myself in the nutts if we hire him.

Though I said the same thing about the Chargers hiring Norv Turner. Turns out I'm all talk.

Vanderbilt

That leaves you with (and even some of these (i) suck; or (ii) just not going to happen):

1. Bill Callahan Nebraska
2. Bill Doba Wash. St.
3. Chan Gailey Ga. Tech
4. Dan Hawkins Colorado
5. Dennis Franchione Texas A&M
6. Jim Grobe Wake Forest
7. Joe Tiller Purdue
8. Karl Dorrell UCLA
9. Kirk Ferentz Iowa
10. Houston Nutt Arkansas
11. Mike Riley Oregon St.
12. Paul Johnson Navy
13. Phillip Fulmer Tennessee
14. Ralph Friedgen Maryland
15. Sylvester Croom Miss. St.
16. Tommy Bowden Clemson
17. Ty Willingham Washington[/quote]

Wow. I don't even want to let myself think we could get a Terry Bowden. It would be fabulous. But of all the names, it is the biggest shockwave type hire (THAT i THINK IS REMOTELY PLAUSIBLE) I don't see Fulmer. There is disenchantment, but not near what there is at Clemson. I know here in the Carolinas, they are constantly all over Bowden. I don't think they realize it's not easy to have great year after year in the ACC.

I agree with others. Nutt would not be a shockwave hire to the level of some others.

I don't know if I can stand a Leach hire. If he is hired, then one might have to consider Arkycide.

I think Terry Bowden knows Tommy Bowden made a mistake by leaving Tulane so quickly and jumping ship to Clemson due to the fact that it was a BCS school. I also, think Terry knows that going from Auburn to another BCS school "X" would only show that he has lost his touch based on his previous record at Auburn. That is why I trully believe that he wants to dominate C-USA and be the savior at SMU after which he can write his own ticket.

Lets pretend that it is Bowden (either). Does that mean we get to play Florida Sate in the Future?

There is a name from that list that is interesting and that's Ralph Friegen. The guy is a Maryland guy, but has ties to Orsini from Georgia Tech. Maryland is on the cusp of either going to a bowl or sitting home for the second straight year. If the Terps don't go bowling the natives will get restless. He's also near the Mangini weight limit. You wouldn't want him to cannon ball into your pool.

No way Fridge leaves College Park unless he's fired. You think his NYC accent would play here?

TOMMY BOWDEN - CLEMSON

agree, Inspector Closseu thinks Ferentz from Iowa. Recruits Texas heavily. Big 10 has fairly high academic standards.
