Anybody know when they will start opening it up at halftime?

Just got a letter from the Mustang Club stating that there will only be four half time receptions this year and that only members who give $500 or more will be allowed in.

Kinda pisses me off.....You would think they would be happy that anyone would come to the games and give to the Mustang Club.

What a joke......

Do you get a secret decoder ring that allows you in or what?

Heh, you get a laminated card that shows the four dates and only card holders and a guest will be admitted.

Orsini is really big on implementing top 25 changes.....except on the court or field......

I give $300 a year to the Mustang Club....have had season tickets for 12 years but now I am no longer good enough to drink flat Coke and eat stale popcorn...

What a crock. They can't afford to give you some popcorn and a can of coke for your $300 donation? I'm getting tired of raising my donation and getting less and less for it.

Well, they did ask me if I wanted to increase my donation to take advantage of this "fabulous" opportunity....

I have no problem with the change if our attendance has tripled and we had some success.....but at this point SMU should just be happy that anyone comes to the games AND gives to the Mustang Club..

maybe Orsini didnt think we would be 0-2 to dogmeat competition after the first week of the season. he probably thought we would start out 12-0 and get a bunch of false hype.

I wonder if they understand that 10 people giving $100 and buying $100 season tickets is worth more than 1 person giving $500 and buying $300 season tickets? It seems like they should be taking steps to encourage more people to become members at any level rather than making the rank and file donors feel second class.

Oh well,

I can understand the angle they are working....It is definitely smart to take care of the larger donors and it is an attempt to get people like me to give more figuring that I will miss the receptions that I have enjoyed the years before.....

I would give more if I could....but at this point with the kids ready for college....4 football seaon tickets, 4 basketball season tickets, and $300 is about all I care to give to SMU.....

I will now be looking for the letter that instructs me that the wall plaques are only for donors who give $500 or more and to please return mine to the Athletic Department at my earliest convenience

Nobody is going to donate more money to get into the receptions and nobody is going to give less because they can't get in to them. They are just a waste of money. Much rather they spend that cash on something more productive.

No, this one thing will not make people give less, but the pattern that is developing may.

-Boulevard policy/pricing changes
-Taking away people's reserved baseline seats in basketball
-No more halftime receptions
-No mailed notice about basketball ticket renewals
-Changes to seating priority policies
-Horrible concession management (not really related, but still wanted to get in a cheap shot)

I'd rather they spend the $100 (or whatever) to set some cokes out at a basketball game than throw it into the pot to pay for some advertising campaign that looks like it was designed by a 3 year old.

I went to one of those halftime shindigs last year as a guest of a Mustang Club member...thoroughly underwhelming.

My letter mentioned "upgraded snacks". Does that mean my popcorn will be fresh, or are we talkin some shimp, brisket and maybe a little wine and cheese?

We got the letter too from the Mustang Club about the halftime receptions. We don't have season tickets because we live in Austin. You can get into the UT equivalent, that includes the ability to purchase alcohol, for a lot less than $500 donation. I was quite suprised the Mustang Club raised this.
