Turner Gill Rumor mill

Postby Stallion » Wed Nov 14, 2007 8:37 pm

I caught a rumor 11/14 off a Nebraska Football site quoting a Buffalo newspaper as saying to there are rumblings between SMU and Gill by which Gill could triple his salary. Article wouldn't link but you can find it search for SMU under Google News. Maybe a subscription site which wouldn't let me link.

Here is the full story-sounds like his salary would mutiply by at least 7 times. I've heard he wasn't interested-why not? Hell i'd be interested if only to negotiate a raise.

Or this one: Turner Gill to SMU? A Buffalo writer tells me there are such rumblings. By going to SMU, Gill would triple his salary at Buffalo (he's making about $185,000). Of course, don't rule Gill out of the Nebraska situation

if Gill doens't get the Nebraska job (remote) and SMU is not willing to take a chance on a high profile guy who has 'a past' (probably not), then Turner Gill is the best choice. I can understand going with a Bowden, but if we are unable or unwilling to get an experienced "name brand" coach, then Gill is the next best thing. He might be the best fit regardless, truth be told.
