Wasn't Ron offered the Purdue job but turned them down in favor of the Colts...with Purdue hiring Fred Akers instead???

That always got me when people said 'cheating' was a regional thing...done predominately by Southern schools.

In short order...Wacker / Akers / Holtz / Meyer...4 of the biggest offenders....were either offered or hired as Big X HCs.

Other big offender went to Miss State.

Endicott should have taken over for Meyer... if he had we probably wouldn't be in the mess we are/have been in for the last 20 years.

True, true, true.....so, so true. When Sheilds and Hitch brought in the Bobby Collins Crew, the recruiting program was broken into two pieces. The boosters were not able to synchronize their efforts with the coaching staff leading to media leaks. Also the salesmanship of the Meyer staff was never embraced by Collins staff. Collins and Company weren't as agressive as Meyer which led the boosters to overcompensate.
