(Not Football) Did a Cubs Fan Just Cost Them the Championship?

Post by MrMustang1965 »

The Cubs' curse may have just been extended by one of their fans. Tie game in the 8th, 3-3. A Cubs fan tried to snare a foul ball that might have been caught by the left fielder. Film at 11. The ghost of Harry Carey just spilled his beer!

That was by far the funniest thing I have seen in baseball since Jack Cust fell down running to home plate against the Yankees earlier this year.

Yes, I follow baseball way too much.

I say no to your question. They fan didn't cost them the game. The game was 3-0 when fan play occured.

My question is...why isn't there more blame put on the Gonzalez and Baker? I realize everything happened after the fan, but AG and Baker are professionals. The foul ball didn't score 3 runs. Prior was incredible through 7 innings, but he sat 19 minutes before the 8th. Everyone gets cold in that amount of time, especially in that climate. You could tell he didn't have the same stuff in that last inning.

Baker brought in Farnsworth, and the first batter he intentionally walks. Most managers have the first pitcher make the walk not the reliever. I cannot remember if someone went out to calm Prior down? If they didn't, why not? And, Baker had a similar game 6 meltdown last year. I guess he didn't learn to have his relievers ready.

Screw the Cubbies, GO MARLINS! Only 6 years after liquidating the entire team, the Marlins are somehow back in the playoffs.
